Michael Benedictine School Alan Joseph Hagemann (1965–2025) Alan Joseph Hagemann went to his eternal home on Friday December 12th, 2025, Al passed at Methodist hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Al is the son of Aloyisus and Celestine (Borer) Hagemann, was born July 31st, 1965, in Albion, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. He attended elementary school at St. Michael’s Catholic School and graduated from Mount Michael Benedictine High School in 1983. After high school, he attended the University of Nebraska at Curtis and graduated with a degree in diesel mechanics in 1985. On October 8th, 1988, Alan was united in marriage to Sandra K. McDermott at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. Together they raised three children: Ashley, Megan, and Alan Joseph Jr. (AJ) in Elkhorn, Nebraska. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Elkhorn and faithfully attended Sunday Mass at Mount Michael. Al had his usual chair in the DJ Sokol Chapel, close to the organ, where he was always greeting others with a warm “Good morning.” He was often seen smiling as he listened to the homilies of his brother, Fr. John O.S.B. Al worked as the COO at Valley Corporation for almost 19 years and he loved going to work every day. He enjoyed fishing on his lake, tractor restoration in his shop, gardening and canning with his brother Fr. John O.S.B, preparing meals for his family and making memories with his grandkids. Friends and family will remember him for his dedication to family, irrepressible work ethic, and unwavering faith. Al is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandy Hagemann of Fremont: three children: Ashley (James) Ford of Beatrice, Megan (Bryan) Pippitt of Laurel and AJ (Megan) Hagemann of Omaha; 6 grandchildren: Joseph Ford, Lydia Ford, Owen Pippitt, Emily Ford, Oliver Pippitt and Leni Pippitt; 6 siblings: Sally Stidham, Fr. John Hagemann O.S.B, Bob Hagemann, Judy Hoppe, Jim Hagemann and Ruth Hagemann; mother-in-law Margene McDermott and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Sally Hagemann, father-in-law Terry McDermott, brother Jerry Hagemann, sister-in-law Sue Hagemann, and nephew Louis Hoppe. Al was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back, even if it was all he had. He lived life to the fullest every single day, carrying no regrets, and found joy in even the simplest moments. He had a soft spot for the underdog and was always cheering for those who needed a second chance, yet he held himself—and everyone around him—to high standards rooted in integrity. He always did what he felt was best, not for recognition, but because it was who he was at his core. His generosity, strength, and unwavering heart made him a truly unforgettable and a well-loved man. A visitation will be held at Mt. Michael’s DJ Sokol Chapel from 4-7pm with a message from his children, a prayer service and refreshments. The funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 20th at St. Patrick's Chapel (20500 W Maple Rd, Elkhorn NE), burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery (near Reichmuth Funeral Home) and lunch at St. Patrick’s Sam Osborn Parish Hall (18602 W Maple Rd Elkhorn, NE). All are welcome to attend and celebrate Al's life. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alan J. Hagemann scholarship for a young man to attend Mt Michael Benedictine School.
