Arlene Jeanne Osterloh

September 21, 1947 - January 13, 2024 On September 21, 1947 in Coleridge, Nebraska Arlene was born to Donald and Signe Ostrander. The family moved to Maryville, Missouri where she graduated from Maryville High School and Northwest Missouri State University. She then continued her education with a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. Arlene has found peace and comfort after five years of the most courageous and difficult battle with cancer. She kept a positive aƫtitude and pressed on every day. She passed surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Arlene was very active in her children’s education and worked in the family homebuilding business. This paved the way to a long career in interior design, working originally in Omaha for Ethan Allen, Interiors by Joan and eventually her own company Arlene Osterloh Design. She thoroughly enjoyed working with clients, many that would become her good friends, as well as the professional organizations that offered many lively social outings. Those who were close to Arlene knew her love for animals, she spent several years volunteering at the Nebraska Humane Society and adored her beloved cats and dogs throughout her full life. Another talent of hers was music. While she was proficient with other instruments, her true love was for the piano, of which she learned as a child and it brought her a lifetime of happiness. Perhaps you were part of the audience on her Facebook page Saturday night concert and discussion on many things’ music. Arlene loved to travel and circumnavigated the globe throughout her life exploring and appreciating the world’s cultures and always had a new trip on the calendar. All this considered, it was the simplest pleasures in life that brought Arlene joy, such as a “happy hour” glass of wine, laughs with a few friends and extra treats for the dogs. Arlene lived graciously and the family would like to express thanks to Nebraska Cancer Center and St. Croix Hospice. Arlene will be loved and remembered by her family. Son: Eric, wife Tamie and daughters Abigail and Eleanor (Eureka Springs, AR). Son: Tyson, wife Cheryl and daughters Olive, Hazel and Violet (Waterloo, NE). Sister: Myrna and husband Tom Ellison (San Antonio, TX). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 2:00pm, visitation with family starting at 1:00pm at the Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn, NE. Memorials can be directed to the Nebraska Humane Society.
