Barbara Jean Bloomberg

Barbara Jean (Pudenz) Bloomberg was born October 18, 1946 in Carroll, Iowa to E.C. and Elaine Pudenz. Barb grew up in Carroll, and attended St. Lawrence grade school. She went on to graduate from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1964. She later attended the College of St. Mary in Omaha, where she received her Registered Nurse’s Degree. As a young girl, Barb participated in chorus and cheerleading. Barb married Philip C. Bloomberg on May 31, 1969 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, Iowa, and to this union, three children were born: Phillip, Ryan, and Rachael. The family made their home in the Omaha, and Elkhorn, Nebraska area. Barb owned Younker’s Flower Shop at Westroads Mall, and later, B’s Blooms at Village Pointe Mall both in Omaha. She also worked for 8 years as the event coordinator at Miracle Hill Golf Course in Omaha. She was a fan of the Huskers, and enjoyed a night out for Italian food, or a pizza from La Casa. Barb was an avid golfer, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was tolerant and forgiving woman, who welcomed everyone into her heart. She will be remembered as a classy, strong, beautiful, patient, and loving woman who opened her home to everyone. She cherished her faith, and her family values. Barb passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 67 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Bloomberg and father E.C. Pudenz. Barb is survived by sons Phillip II and Ryan, daughter Rachael and husband Brian Urban, all of Omaha, 5 grandchildren with one on the way, her mother Elaine Pudenz and brother Bob and wife, Tracy Pudenz both of Carroll, IA. Barbara J. Bloomberg, age 67, of Elkhorn, died 11-10-13. Preceded in death by husband Philip Bloomberg and father E.C. Pudenz. Survived by sons Phillip II and Ryan, daughter Rachael and husband Brian Urban, all of Omaha, 5 grandchildren and one on the way, mother Elaine Pudenz and brother Bob and wife, Tracy Pudenz both of Carroll, IA. Memorial Mass Thursday, St. Robert Bellarmine, 11802 Pacific St, at 10 AM. Inurnmet Prospect Hill Cemetery, Elkhorn. Visitation Wednesday 5-7 PM with vigil service at 7 PM at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Memorials to the Josie Harper Hospice House.
