Barbara K. Stuart

Barbara “Badka” Stuart was born on May 25th, 1924 in Selma, California to Ada and Roy Kauffman and was raised in Fresno, California. Throughout her youth, Barb had many accomplishments, including playing the piano in an otherwise all boys band and playing the accordion during the 1939 San Francisco World’s Fair. In 1945 she met Robert Stuart at a bowling alley in San Francisco. They were married three months later and remained married for 46 years until he passed. Barb spent her career at Pacific Bell Telephone Company and retired with 36 years of service. Barb and Bob had two children together, Beth and Brian, and three grandchildren, Erin, Zach, and Ally. Her family was her pride and joy. When Beth and her husband Ed were transferred to Omaha, Nebraska, Barb went along for the ride. She lived with Beth and her family for over 25 years. She never missed a soccer game, baseball game, or viola concert. Barb’s grandkids affectionately called her Badka or BoBo and she was their biggest fan. She didn’t hold back either when it was time to tell them how their team played! Barb loved to travel and she spent time after her retirement traveling all over the world. She brought back many souvenirs and stories to share. Barb had a passion for playing Bridge and made many great friends with her fellow players. She also loved to read and would often be found in the armchair reading her next mystery book. No matter if you knew her as Barb, Badka, or BoBo you knew her for her quick wit, for her smile that could light up the darkest room, and for always having a can of Coke nearby. Barb had a heart of gold and we were lucky to have called her ours. She will be missed greatly by all who knew her. Barbara K. “Badka” Stuart, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Preceded in death by her husband Robert Warren Stuart. Survived by daughter Beth (Ed) Brown of Omaha, and their daughters Erin & Ally, son Brian (Denise) Stuart, and his son Zach (Sahar) of California, and nephew Mark (Melodie) Stuart of California. Memorial service 7 PM Thursday with visitation from 5-7 PM prior to the service at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Refreshments to follow. Memorials to the Nebraska Humane Society.
