Beverly Ann Dunn

Beverly Ann Dunn was born on August 30, 1933 in Monroe, Nebraska to Ferdinand and Verna (Hill) Seefeld. She grew up in Monroe where she attended grade school and graduated from Monroe High School in 1950. As a young girl, Bev enjoyed riding bikes, reading and going to local town dances. Bev attended Midland College, receiving a teaching certificate and later the Capitol School of Hairstyling to receive her cosmetology certificate. Bev eloped with Jerome Dunn to St. Paul, Minnesota on May 19th 1952. Bev and Jerry have been married for 58 years. They have been blessed with five children: Carol Lee, David Charles, Michael Allen, Larry Scott and Tracy Lynn. Bev and Jerry raised their family in Wahoo, North Platte, Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha before settling in Elkhorn. Bev worked as a switchboard operator, grocery cashier, teacher (K-8) and a cosmetologist. She owned her own beauty salon for a number of years. Bev remained an avid book reader, enjoyed the newspaper, watching CNN, scrapbooking, ceramics and her bible study. She had a knack for remodeling and decorating and collected dolls, teddy bears and antiques. Bev was active with her children in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was active in her church and taught 5th grade CCD classes at St. Patrick’s Church in Elkhorn. She was a loving, talented woman with a quick, funny wit and a positive attitude. Bev treasured the family events in her life – babies, graduations, weddings, and grandbabies. Bev enjoyed a good hot cup of black coffee and the company of her good friends. The door was always open and the coffee was always on. Bev had a deep committed faith. She was a woman of character with a deep love for her Jerry and her family. Bev was always the optimist confirmed by her favorite saying “Worry is just a wasted prayer”. Bev passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha with her family at her side at the age of 77 years and 8 months. She was preceded in death by her parents Ferdinand and Verna and her son Larry. Bev is survived by her husband Jerry; sons and daughters-in-law David and Michelle and Mike and Coleen all of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Randall Barker of Utah and daughter Tracy Dunn of Omaha; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sister Bethel and John Ernst of Arkansas; brother-in law Stanley Kaminski of Ohio; 11 nieces and nephews.
