Bradley Eugene Ruth

Brad was born in 1960 to Donna and Ed Ruth. He passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2024. As a child Brad attended several elementary schools before moving to Valley with his mom and stepdad in his sophomore year of high school. It was at Valley where he met his wife, Kerri. Their first date was the sweetheart dance on February 12, 1976. After high school Brad enrolled at Iowa St, making the 3-hour drive from Ames frequently to see Kerri. Brad proposed to Kerri at the intersection of 90th and Dodge. He asked her to open the glove box of his prized baby blue Datsun pickup. He said he just couldn't wait any longer to ask her to marry him, Brad and Kerri were married in August 1980. They lived in Boone la for 2 yrs before moving back to Omaha in 1982. Brad worked in commercial real estate for years before joining a concrete company. Brad would eventually become owner of the company. After 7 years Brad joined Elkhorn West Construction where he was employed at the time of his death. Brad and Kerri had 3 kids, Dan, Adam and Beth and 9 grandchildren whom he adored and claimed they all had his good looks. Brad was a “cowboy-wanna-be” and loved country music. He collected bears and would challenge visiting grandkids to find his newest one. He even kept a bowl of bear “terds” - aka tootsie rolls on his desk. When he finally convinced Kerri to adopt his own dog, he named her Bear. Brad was curious and inquisitive, often noticing small details in commercials, buildings and people most of us overlook. He loved to read and would stop to read historical markers on the side of the road. Who does that? He found great joy in being an observer, especially of the grandkids. Although Brad did not often use his words to express what he was feeling, his facial expression and his eyes said it all. From the joy of meeting his grandkids for the first time, to hearing of their great accomplishments to the quick hugs when they came in the door for a visit, they brought that smile that said so much. Brad and Kerri were married 44 years and when he opened the door after a long day at work, his first words were always, “Hey beautiful!” and when the boys would call, it was, “Hey bud!” 4 words Kerri and the boys are going to miss so much. While they will miss Brad, they are comforted by knowing that Brad is with Beth and holding his grandson Jaxson. Born January 27,1960 in Omaha Nebraska. Passed away December 4, 2024. Brad is survived by his wife 44 years, Kerri Landgren Ruth, his sons: Dan (Rachel), and Adam (Samantha); grand children: Coen and Aubrie Schlagenhauff, Bennett and Madelyn Ruth, Kelty and Alanah Miller, Landon and Jakob Ruth; and nieces and nephews and their families. He was proceeded in death by daughter Elizabeth (Beth), grandson Jaxson, sister Lisa Kibbie, parents: Donna Griffin and Ed Ruth, and stepdad Gene Griffin.
