Brian Ray Tontegode

Brian Ray Tontegode was born on August 11, 1972, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Raimonds (Ray) and Judy (Weiand) Tontegode. He grew up in Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1990. As a child and young man, Brian was curious, creative, and full of energy. He loved building with Legos, collecting baseball cards, riding his bike around Lincoln and Fremont, playing tennis, and exploring new places. Music was an important part of Brian’s life, and he spent many years playing guitar in his band, sharing his love of music with friends and family. Brian earned his Associate Degree in Computer Programming from Southeast Community College in Lincoln in 1999 and later received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Commercial Banking from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2010. He worked for 12 years as a Programmer Analyst at West Corporation and then spent another 12 years as an Application Engineer at ACI. Brian married Christina Gibilisco, and together they shared 19 wonderful years and were blessed with their son, Holden. Brian was incredibly proud to become a father and truly loved being a dad. He will be remembered as a loving, kind, and funny person with a quick wit and a playful sense of sarcasm that always kept those around him laughing. A devoted husband and father, Brian consistently showed his love and support for Christy, Holden, and those closest to him. A big sports fan, he rarely missed the chance to cheer on his favorite teams - the Houston Astros, Green Bay Packers, and Boston Celtics. Brian also enjoyed reading, traveling, fishing, horse racing, listening to music, and going for walks. He had a soft spot for dogs and cherished the companionship of Fifi, Zoey, Oliver, Charlie, Coco, Lily and Abe. He loved the family cabin in Fremont, where he grew up with family and cousins and returned often as an adult to enjoy the water, the outdoors, and time with loved ones. Brian passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 53 years, 4 months, and 18 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raimonds (Ray) and Judy Tontegode. Brian is survived by his loving wife, Christy; his son, Holden; his brother, Scott (Joyce) Tontegode; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Memorials in Brian’s name can be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
