Curtis Dean Vick

Curtis Dean Vick was born on June 5, 1949 in Brookings, South Dakota to Boyd and Lucille (Larson) Vick. Curt grew up on the family farm near Volga, South Dakota where he attended Oslo District 98 country school and graduated from Brookings High School in 1967. Curt went on to graduate from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. As a young boy, Curt spent a great deal of time working on the family farm but in his free time, he enjoyed basketball and 4-H projects. Curt married Linda Lee on June 3, 1972 at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and they were blessed with two daughters, Katie and Kristin. Curt and Linda raised their family in Eau Clare, Wisconsin, St. Cloud, Minnesota and Sioux City, Iowa before moving to Omaha in 2002. Curt began his career history as a store manager for Elmen Rent-All in Sioux Falls, SD in 1971 and in 1977 he accepted a sales position for Dakon Industries, which brought him to Eau Clare, WI and St. Cloud, MN. Curt launched his career in medical sales with Kreiser Surgical in 1984, working as a territory manager out of Sioux City, IA. A territory sales management position with Cardinal Health Corporation led him to Omaha, where he most recently pursued his passion as a surgical mask specialist for Prestige Ameritech. Curt enjoyed all sports, but he loved golf. He was an avid fan of Iowa State athletics, Minnesota Viking football and Boston Celtic basketball. Curt was a whiz at cards, puzzles, and Sudoku. Curt made friends easily and was loved by all who knew him. Curt loved his family and treasured the time when they could all gather together. Curt passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 9 days. He was preceded in death by his father Boyd. Curt is survived by his wife Linda of Omaha, Nebraska; daughters and sons-in-law Katie and Brad Smith of Chicago, Illinois and Kristin and David Schaaf of Des Moines, Iowa; mother Lucille Vick of Brookings, South Dakota; sisters and brothers-in-law Donna and Jim Markusen of Fort Myers, Florida and Susan and Denis Hofflander of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
