David Earl Scearcy

David Earl Scearcy was born August 18, 1944 in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Fan and Earl Scearcy. Dave grew up in Blue Earth, graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1962, and enlisted in the Army in 1966, serving in Vietnam in 1969. Upon returning home in 1969, he attended and graduated from Mankato State College where he met Mary Susan Rosengren. Dave and Mary were married in July of 1972 and resided in Medina, Minnesota. They were the proud parents of Scott, Nicole, Josh & Kathryn. Dave had a long career with Genuine Parts Company which brought him to the Omaha area in 1988. Dave started his lawn/landscape business, A Cut Above, with his sons in 1997. The company later merged with CM’S/A Cut Above, from which he retired in 2019. Dave accomplished much in his careers, but his greatest joys came in serving his Lord, Jesus Christ and loving his wife, Mary and their family, Scott & Carla Scearcy, Nicole & Cory Jensen, Josh & Stef Scearcy, and their 6 grandchildren: Clete, Landon, Kate, Hallie, Liam & Quinn. He rarely missed a sporting event or family celebration and quietly cheered them on in each endeavor. Dave used his musical gifts by singing in church choirs and on worship teams; he loved to study the Bible and was a part of several Bible Study groups. He was passionate about serving and giving and was known as a servant leader. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Lunneman; sisters-in-law, Linda Mills and Judy Rosengren; and many nieces and nephews. He passed away on May 20, 2024, where he was greeted in heaven by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; his parents, Fan & Earl Scearcy; and his infant daughter, Kathryn Joy. Services will be held at Reichmuth Funeral Homes (Elkhorn, NE). Visitation 3:00- 4:00 pm, Celebration of Life at 4:00 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024, with dinner following from 5-7 PM at Flatland Church, 4801 N 144th St, Omaha, NE 68116. Memorials may be directed to Safari Mission, PO Box 932 Broken Arrow, OK 74013-0932 or to Charis Bible College, PO Box 3333 Colorado Springs, CO 80934-3333. We invite you to wear bright clothes, for this truly will be a celebration of a wonderful life.
