Donald Richard Liska

Donald R. Liska was born October 31, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska to Edward and Donna (Bohlmeyer) Liska. Don grew up in Omaha where he attended Adams Elementary school before graduating from Omaha Northwest High School in 1975. Growing up, Don enjoyed football, playing guitar, working on cars, following his Grandpa B around the farm, and bugging his dad. Don was the proud father of Dez, Jay, Josh and Dalaina, and raised his family in Omaha and Bellevue. Don married Eileen Lisko on October 17, 1998, in Omaha, and added another daughter, Michelle, to the family. Don worked early on at Baker’s grocery store, then worked for many years as an automotive technician. When he wasn’t working, Don stayed active golfing (in both indoor and outdoor leagues), fishing, playing his guitar, watching football, baseball and hockey, and especially loved spending time with family and friends. Don was a loving family man, who was honest, strong and resilient. He was very charming and could turn anyone’s frown upside down. He loved to cheer on the Huskers, Cubs, Royals, Chicago Blackhawks, Kansas City Chiefs and Creighton Bluejays. He listened to all kinds of music but was especially fond of country music and anything from the Beatles. He enjoyed watching John Wayne movies and appreciated a good steak from The Drover. He could often be heard telling someone to “kill ‘em with kindness”. Don was proud of his life with Eileen, cherished his children and grandchildren, and made the most of his Halloween birthday. He will be remembered as a man who never passed judgement, and for whom a firm handshake was good enough for him. Don passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at his home in Omaha at the age of 70 years, 7 months, and 28 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Donnalene Liska, parents-in-law Bud and Joyce Lisko, and brother-in-law Mark Lisko. Don is survived by his wife Eileen, children Dezaree’, Jaymason (Misty), Joshua (Kristy), Dalaina (Alan), and Michelle (Rey), 7 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and 3 to come, siblings Daniel Liska and Vicki (Mike) Linafelter, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, July 2 at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Elkhorn with visitation from Noon to 2 PM prior to the service. Interment at Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Leukemia-& Lymphoma Society. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. G and his staff.
