Donna Lee Beerman

Donna (Brink) Beerman, age 86 of Bennington, died at her home on Monday, April 12, 2021. She was born on April 24, 1934 in Dow City, Iowa to George and Golda (Birkhofer) Brink. She grew up with four brothers, John, George, Bill and Bob and four sisters, Gwen, Joyce, Lila and Kate. Donna loved telling stories about her adventures – from Gypsy’s, Carnie’s stealing her cat and maybe her Uncle Hoots badger biting her, falling on a pitch fork, and waking up on Christmas and Santa bringing her a new baby brother. She met Charles Beerman at school, as she says they both needed to be loved. She tells the time they were kissing on the front porch leaning against the doorbell, when Grandpa Brink answered the door without his leg – He wasn’t too happy to say the least. They were married in 1953, and had four children, Dennis, Cheryl, Susan and Sandra. They were her joy, and being a Mom was her favorite thing to do. She always said after a long school break – People couldn’t wait to send their kids back to school, but it made her sad. Donna fought hard for her family – taught them amazing things, like how to blow on a blade of grass and make a trumpet sound. The love of nature and the faith in her God. Most of all she loved babies, even if they were nearing 40 years of age. She loved her grandchildren, loved spoiling and feeding them until they popped. Her latest joy was the great grand babies, she loved them so much and was so proud of her grandchildren for being amazing parents. Towards the end, just to watch and hear their laughter made her feel so much better. Her stories she told, her laughter, soft touch and warm applesauce when we were sick; we will keep in our hearts forever! You were the best Mom and the love you gave will never die, it will live on and on. She was preceded in death by: her parents; George and Golda Brink; her husband, Charles Beerman; daughter, Cheryl Dye; brothers, George, John and Bill; sisters, Joyce, Lila and Kate. Donna is survived by: her children, Sue Gann, Dennis (Bonnie) Beerman both of Bennington and Sandy (Tom) Merwald of Bellevue; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister, Gwen Demey of Dow City, IA; and a brother, Bob Brink of Minnesota. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn. Burial will follow at the Elk City Cemetery in Elk City, NE. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 pm till 7 pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. Memorials can be made to the Elk City Cemetery and left or mailed to the funeral home.
