Donna Rae Ferguson

Donna Rae (Humphrey) Ferguson was born July 12, 1938 in Valley, Nebraska to George and Marie (Horn) Humphrey. Donna grew up in Valley, and attended District 15 school before graduating from Valley High School in 1957. As a young lady, Donna enjoyed attending country music festivals. Donna married Richard Ferguson on December 15, 1964 in Schuyler, Nebraska, and the young couple settled near Valley. Donna loved spending time with Richard, whether it was riding in one of their classic cars, camping, or riding on the tractor, they were inseparable. Donna was a thoughtful, caring, and hard-working woman. Her favorite color was blue, and she still enjoyed country music, especially the song, “Class of ‘57” (her class) by the Statler Brothers. She favored meals at Runza and KFC, and especially liked a Runza hamburger, with a cold Pepsi. She enjoyed traveling to different auctions, flea markets and swap meets, and took much pride in her flower garden, but she was most proud of her collection of dogs and dog figurines, and was always on the lookout for a new one to add to her collection. Donna will be remembered for her soft-spoken and kind nature, and for being along with Richard on tractor rides. Donna died on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 4 days. She was preceded in death by her parents George & Marie Humphrey, parents-in-law Billie & Gertrude Ferguson, brothers-in-law Russell Reeser and Fred Peters, and many well-loved pets. She is survived by her husband Richard (married 12/15/64), beloved dog Tippy, Jr., sisters Shirley Reeser and Roma Humphrey, both of Fremont, brothers and sisters-in-law John (Cheryl) Ferguson and Mary (Larry) Davis, nieces and nephews; Jeff (Jill) Ferguson, Carrie (Justin) Rehder, Carl Reeser, Ted Reeser, Winifred Reeser, Veronica (Brian) Rauth, and Keith (Tina) Peters, and many additional great nieces and great nephews. Donna R. Ferguson, age 80, of Valley, died 4/16/19. Preceded in death by parents George & Marie Humphrey, parents-in-law Billie & Gertrude Ferguson, brothers-in-law Russell Reeser and Fred Peters, and many well-loved pets. Funeral service 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Interment Pleasant View Cemetery near Leshara, NE. Visitation Friday Noon-8 PM with family receiving friends from 5-8 PM at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Memorials to the family. A lunch with the family will follow the burial at the Presbyterian Church in Fremont, NE, 520 West Linden, Fremont, NE 68025
