Elizabeth Ann Ruth

Elizabeth Ann Ruth was born July 31, 1988 to Brad and Kerri (Landgren) Ruth. She was both doted on and picked on from day one by her older brothers, Dan and Adam. She passed away in Kearney, NE on August 23, 2024 at the age of 36. Beth is survived by her parents, Brad and Kerri Ruth, brothers, Dan and Adam Ruth, and her loving nieces and nephews. As a little girl, Beth was adventurous and happy to be wherever she was at the time. She spoke often of fond memories at her grandparent’s house in the summer and wrestling around with her brothers. Beth was willing to try anything and participated in dance and soccer when she was young. In her teenage years, she played basketball, threw the discus, and (according to her) “shredded” on the saxophone. Recently, she brought that same saxophone to Kearney and thoroughly enjoyed bugging her roommate by “practicing,” and talking about how successful she could have been as a musician. Even from an early age, Beth was always smiling and genuinely loved people. She could talk to anybody and truly enjoy the conversation. Beth’s first job was at Sheridan’s Frozen Custard and she climbed the ladder into a management position as a high-school kid. Even as an adult, she was proud of that job. Food service and hospitality were in her blood from the start and she took great pride in what she did. Her work ethic was second to none. In recent years, Beth relished her role as Aunt to Kelty, Alanah, Jakob, Jaxson, Coen, Aubrie, Bennett, and Madelyn. She absolutely adored them all and they loved her dearly. She frequently showed off pictures to her friends and bragged about their accomplishments. Beth blessed the community of Kearney with her presence when she began attending UNK in 2006. She got a part-time job at Skeeter Barnes and worked her way into the General Manager position, which she maintained and thrived in for the better part of the last ten years. Through Skeeter Barnes, college, and relationships with other businesses in town, Beth met countless friends that became family. She was a rock to all who had the immense privilege of knowing her. Everyone knew they could count on Beth. She was an amazing dog mom, daughter, sister, and friend. She loved traveling and going to basketball games with her mom, enjoying live music and sporting events with her friends, being in nature, and so much more. She would jump at any opportunity to hop on a pogo stick and was oddly good at it. Beth loved the life she lived. Over the last few years, Beth found a great amount of joy in volunteering with The Arc of Buffalo County and spending time with kids and adults with disabilities. It can’t be put into words the effect that she had on people and she will be missed by so many. Beth would love for us all to remember these words from a song she loved. Music was one of her greatest passions. “We may not have it all together, but together we can have it all.” In Lieu of Flowers, Memorials are suggested to ARC of Buffalo County (3489, 4511 6th Ave Suite 204, Kearney, NE 68845) or to Kearney Area Animal Shelter (3205 US-30, Kearney, NE 68845. Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00am Wednesday at St. Thomas Lutheran Church (17007 Q Street Omaha, NE 68135).
