Eunice Anna Neuhaus

Eunice Anna Neuhaus was born to Henry and Martha (Bloedorn) Tietz on June 23rd, 1926 at her parents’ home in rural Bancroft, Nebraska. She was Baptized on July 18th, 1926 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Bancroft. She attended school at Zion Lutheran through the 8th grade. Eunice publicly confessed her Christian faith also at Zion on her Confirmation Day, March 17, 1940. Eunice was united in marriage to Herbert Neuhaus on August 24, 1947 at Zion, Bancroft. To this union three children were born: Shirley, Larry, and Gayleen. They raised their children on the family farm near Bennington, Nebraska. They farmed near Bennington and Eunice was an active housewife. The couple also sold Pioneer Seed Corn together for nearly 48 years, with Eunice diligently keeping the books. Eunice had been a member of Zion Lutheran Bancroft, and then Zion Lutheran near Omaha for the rest of her life. She was a member of and served as an officer of the Lydia Circle (LWML), was congregational coordinator for the Lutheran Food Pantry, was on the Altar Committee, visited shut-ins and also residents at the Douglas County Veteran’s Home, active in the Concordia Guild, attended Bible Study Groups, sang in the church choir, and proudly taught Sunday School children for 30 years. Eunice enjoyed time with family, visiting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, reading, music, and in her last few years walking for exercise and playing cards with her friends at Heartland Care Center, Marcus, Iowa. Eunice passed away on July 26, 2014, at Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 1 months and 3 days. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, her parents, her siblings: Gerhardt, Mildred, Lavern, Leland, and Melvin. She is survived by her children: Shirley and husband Robert Anderson of Stanhope, IA; Larry and wife Karen Neuhaus of Blair, NE; Gayleen and husband Don Meyer of Marcus, IA; nine grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters-in-law Lloyd and Helen Tietz of Bancroft, NE, Myra Tietz of McCook, NE and Ann Neuhaus of Bennington, NE.
