James "Jim" Allen Krieger

Jim was born in Omaha on 6/18/44. After graduation from Westside High School he earned a BS in Education from UNO. He then served 4 years active duty in the Air Force, retiring from the Nebraska National Guard as a Major. Jim taught school in District 66, sold real estate for Maenner Company and managed an apartment complex. Returning to school he earned his MBA from UNO. Jim was a real estate broker and property manager with Byron Reed and later was area manager for Melvin Simon Associates where he managed shopping centers in Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa. He was a Certified Property Manager and probably could have written the book on property management. Jim owned and operated Midwest Survey until he retired. Jim was always working and retirement was difficult, so he learned to weld at Metro Tech. Jim loved working on cars. He had built a dune buggy while stationed in Japan and had it shipped back to the states. He drove it from San Francisco cross country to Omaha. What a trip! In retirement he purchased a perfectly good 1937 Ford Coupe and then spent 10-11 years completely rebuilding it. Other prized vehicles in Jim's collection include a '76 Datsun 280z and a GMC 1991 Z71 off road pick-up. A long time member of Midwest Street Rod Association, he enjoyed Thursday lunches with car friends. Other hobbies included bike riding, weightlifting and reading. He had a task list and worked on it daily. Yes, he was a young and active 80 year old. In 1988 Jim and Kathy were married.. They were a team and if not currently working on a project together, they were sharing ideas and planning the next one. For several years they enjoyed traveling and visiting different areas. After Kathy's retirement they could extend their stays at various vacation rentals. In honor of Jim's father-in-law, for several years Jim helped register runners and walkers at the American Lung Association Corporate Cup Run. The 2024 Elkhorn tornado just missed their home. Feeling blessed Jim helped with food prep and delivery of food for the tornado victims. Predeceased by parents, Kenneth A. and Alice M. Krieger and brother-in-law, Bob Taylor. Jim is survived by wife, Kathy Taylor-Krieger; brother, Gary (Shari) Krieger of Elkhorn; nephews and niece, Ben (Heidi) Krieger, Luke (Lauren) Krieger, Nick (Allison) Kriger, and Abby (Mark) Ferry; brothers and sisters-in-law, John (Cindy) Taylor of Concord, NE and Lorraine Taylor, Laurel, NE; cousins, Scott Henderson, Kay (George) Austin Trout; and many great nieces and nephews. Private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your favorite charity or Moving Veterans Forward.
