Jean Deloris Wheatley

Jean Deloris (Wisner) Wheatley was born September 18, 1936 in Fremont, Nebraska to Glenn and Chloe (Smith) Wisner. She grew up in and attended school in Fremont. As a young girl, Jean enjoyed roller skating and riding motorcycles. Jean married Darwin Doud in March 1953, and to this union, three children were born; Cindy, Randy and Tammy. Jean later married Jerry Wheatley. Jean has spent most of her life living in the Omaha and Millard areas. Jean and Darwin owned a Bait and Tackle shop while they were together. She was working at Sears when she met Jerry, and the two of them operated an AllState Insurance agency at 90th & Arbor in Omaha for several years. Jean was a music fan; enjoying the music of Elvis Presley and Norah Jones. She loved to dance, and often sang “You Are My Sunshine”. She loved the color purple, and following Nebraska football. She liked dining out at Outback Steakhouse, or going to Village Inn for a slice of French Silk pie. Jean and Jerry would often go to the mall to window shop and people watch. She appreciated getting her hair done, and always looking sharp! She will be remembered for her style, her smile, and saying, “I love you around the world and back!”. Jean died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Esprit Whispering Ridge in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 79 years 5 months, and 6 days after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Wheatley, daughter Tamela Doud Roberts, sister Twyla Andreasen, and brother Jerry Wisner. Jean is survived by her son Randy of Omaha, daughter Cindy (Tony) Pierce of Valley, grandchildren; Toby ( Raquel) Pierce Canyon Lake, CA and Christy (Matt) Roubicek of Valley, great grandchildren; Taylor and Jackson Jones, Megan and Christina Pierce, and McKena and Carson Roubicek. Jean D. Wheatley, age 79, of Omaha, died 2/24/16. Preceded in death by husband Jerry Wheatley, daughter Tamela Doud Roberts, sister Twyla Andreasen, and brother Jerry Wisner. Survived by son Randy of Omaha, daughter Cindy (Tony) Pierce of Valley, grandchildren; Toby ( Raquel) Pierce Canyon Lake, CA and Christy (Matt) Roubicek of Valley, great grandchildren; Taylor and Jackson Jones, Megan and Christina Pierce, and McKena and Carson Roubicek. Funeral service Monday, 10:30 AM. Visitation Sunday from 1-6 PM with family receiving friends from 4-6 PM all at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Graveside service Monday at 2 PM at Brighton Cemetery in Marne, IA. Memorials to Hillcrest Hospice.
