Jerry Moore

Jerry Dayton Moore was born on October 7, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska to Marvin and Lorraine (Compton) Moore. He grew up in Waterloo where he attended grade school and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1966. As a young boy, Jerry enjoyed fishing, football, basketball and baseball, earning all-state honors in football. Jerry served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Orisikany and USS Ticonderoga off the coast or Vietnam. Jerry married Linda Frye on June 2, 1973 at the Presbyterian Church in Waterloo, Nebraska and they have made their home in Waterloo ever since. Jerry has worked for Roberts Dairy, Simplot and Skellgas which is now Ferrellgas. He enjoyed watching sports, visiting and diner out but his passion was golf. Jerry never knew a stranger, he was thoughtful, helpful and generous to a fault. Jerry enjoyed a good dinner at Farmer Brown’s of El Bee’s that might include prime rib, catfish or a chimichanga and a Pabst Blue Ribbon or a Windsor sour. He was a caring man, always in a good mood and a diligent caregiver for his mother. Jerry considered it a good day when he finished his round of golf with more golf balls than he started with. Jerry passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 63 years, 3 months and 16 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Lorraine and father-in-law Leslie (Bit) Frye. Jerry is survived by his wife Linda; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Tami of Holt, MO; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Frye of Valley; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Marilyn Frye of Spring, TX; 2 nieces and 4 nephews. flag Moore, Jerry age 63 of Waterloo, NE Survived by wife Linda; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Tami of Holt, MO; mother-in-law Mary Ellen Frye of Valley; brother-in-law Mike (Marilyn) Frye of Spring, TX; 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
