Kris Eric Peterson

Kris Eric Peterson was born on March 3, 1946 in Clarinda, Iowa to Dr. Paul and Shirley (Howes) Peterson. He grew up in Clarinda where he attended grade school and graduated from Clarinda High School in 1964. He was active in the school choir, basketball and golf. Kris continued his education by receiving his BS degree in Math from Doane College. Here he was an active member of Delta Kappa Pi fraternity. He then continued his education at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he received his MS in Math. Kris married his high school sweetheart, Cecelia Wilson on September 7, 1968 at Presbyterian Church of the Master in Omaha, Nebraska. They were blessed with three daughters: Betsy, Sherry and Lora. Kris worked as an actuary at Milliman. After 29 years, he retired in 2002. In the ensuing years, he spent lots of time on the golf course, in his yard and with his beloved grandchildren. Kris was a kind and gentle man, disciplined, loyal and dependable. He enjoyed Motown and country music, “stag” chili, a good drink and dinner out at Charleston’s. Kris had a knack for creating and reciting limericks, much to the delight of his family and friends. Even though he was a patient man, Kris "quipped" to point out grammatical errors or improper English. Kris passed away suddenly at home on June 29, 2013 at the age of 67 years, 3 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Shirley and his sister Susan Mann. Kris is survived by his wife of 44 years Cecelia; daughters and sons-in-law Betsy and Scott Obermoller of Omaha, Sherry Peterson of Omaha and Lora and John Lento of Malden, MA; grandchildren Braden, Leah, Mason and Miles; sisters Sally Nordland of Clarinda, IA and Julie Peterson of Kansas City, MO.
