Kurt William Wiekhorst

Kurt William Wiekhorst was born November 12, 1963, in Omaha Nebraska to Dennis and Dolores (Koll) Wiekhorst. He grew up in Waterloo, Nebraska and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1982. He was an exceptional wrestler and enjoyed a variety of sports. He attended Kansas State University where he played football before coming back home to start a business with his brother. Growing up Kurt thrived on adventure. He loved water sports, riding mini bikes, building go carts and tree houses; anything that allowed him to move, use his skills to make things better, and keep that never-ending smile on his face. Kurt started in the construction business with his brother at an early age. They were successful in building a number of streets, highways, and bridges throughout Omaha and the surrounding areas. He also lead several teams that built a large portion of Omaha’s sewer separation projects. In time, he built multiple pipe and concrete batch plants in Nebraska and Iowa. His impact and innovation on Omaha’s concrete construction industry will be felt for generations to come. Kurt married Kathy in 1994 and made their home in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Their dogs Koal and Hank have been a source of joy and comfort over the years. Kurt will be remembered as a loving, caring, fun and hard-working man who awoke each day with a smile on his face eager to take on the day and live life to its fullest. He was a friend and mentor to many. Kurt passed away August 25, 2026 at the age of 62. Preceded in death by father and mother Dennis and Dolores Wiekhorst. Survived by wife Kathy, sister and brother-in-law Kim & Reed Kruse, brother Scott Wiekhorst, nephew Michael Wiekhorst, niece Michelle Wiekhorst, and several beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the medical staff who provided exceptional care throughout Kurt’s journey with cancer.
