LaDonna Maxine Hansen

LaDonna Maxine (Brown) Hansen was born August 6, 1933 in Valley, Nebraska to Henry and Hildreth (Brainard) Brown. She grew up in Valley and graduated from Valley High School in 1950. As a young girl, LaDonna enjoyed singing, playing piano, and was active with the Rainbow Girls. LaDonna married Vern Hansen on March 31, 1951 at the Baptist Presbyterian Church in Valley, Nebraska and to this union, 7 children were born; Charmaine, Diane, Linda, Eric, Kurt, Roberta and Scott. The couple raised their family in Fremont, NE, and Lincoln, NE but also lived in Erie, PA, and Omaha, NE, and most recently, LaDonna had made her home in Overland Park, KS. LaDonna held a variety of jobs throughout her life. She worked for General Electric, at the Mead Ammunition Plant, the VA Hospital, H&R Block, Villager Motel, the Ovaltine Plant, Food Barn, and Price Chopper. She was a hard-working woman who was known for being loving, detailed, organized and energetic, and had an unbelievable memory. She stayed active with the Rainbow Girls and Eastern Star in her early years, as well as being a leader with the Bluebirds. LaDonna was a big fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. She loved musicals and the song, “Sentimental Journey”. Her favorite flower was a stargazer lily, and she was always ready for dinner at Tony & Luigi’s or Red Lobster. She enjoyed sewing, jewelry making, flower arranging, baking and bowling. She cherished her family, and always impressed the kids with her ability to plan family vacations and keep everything organized down to the last detail. She will be remembered for always being friendly, loving and funny. LaDonna passed away at her home in Overland Park, KS on June 28, 2022 at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 22 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry & Hildreth Brown, husband Vern Hansen, and grandchildren James Zech and Emily Hansen. LaDonna is survived by her children; Charmaine Hansen of Overland Park, KS, Diane & Mike Zech of Papillion, NE, Linda Hansen of Lincoln, NE, Eric & Vong Hansen of Gardner, KS, Kurt Hansen of Denver, CO, Roberta & Rich Goodrich of Eagle, NE, and Scott Hansen of Osawatomie, KS, 22 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren, brother Duane & Patsy Brown of Dexter, KY. Funeral service 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home in Elkhorn with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery of Elkhorn. Memorials to the family.
