Linda Ann Hester

Linda Ann Hester passed away peacefully in Elkhorn, NE on 08/29/2024 surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend, her generous and kind spirit will be missed by many. Linda was born to Thomas and Joyce Esser on 06/17/1968 in Sibley, Iowa. She went to elementary school in Ute, Iowa and graduated from Charter-Oak Ute High School in 1986. She went to college for computer programming and moved to Omaha, NE to work at First Data Resources, where she would work for 29 years, and later for Mutual of Omaha from 2017 until she was disabled by cancer in August 2022. In 1989, she married Troy Hopp. They had three children and were married for 20 years. Linda worked part-time for many years to spend more time with her children. She loved volunteering at school, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and serving as a volunteer in various ways at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. She also helped with Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. Linda also served as a board member for the Christian Outreach Program-Elkhorn and volunteered at other local organizations. Linda married the love of her life, her best friend, William “Bill” Hester on June 30, 2012. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She was looking forward to retirement, where she planned to spend time with Bill, her family and friends, being a Grandma, and volunteering. Linda is survived by her loving spouse, William Hester, children Tyler Hopp, Amber (Sam) Caswell, Kayla (Seth) Hanson, stepson Andrew Hester, mother Joyce Esser, siblings Richard (Paula) Esser, Susan (Brent) Kelm, Roger Esser, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws, especially her beloved sister-in-law, Lynn. She was preceded in death by her father Tom Esser, infant nephew Jared Michael Kelm, her Aunt Jan Raymond, and her grandparents. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, Elkhorn. Private interment. Visitation Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM with family receiving friends from 5-7 PM at Lord of Life Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to COPE, PO Box 177, Elkhorn, NE 68022
