Lois A Rogert

Lois A. (Shaver) Rogert was born on March 8, 1926 in Emerson, Nebraska to DeWitt and Hazel (Hoisington) Shaver. She grew up in Emerson where she attended school through the 11th Grade. Lois’ family moved to Omaha and she graduated from Omaha South High School in 1943. Lois was in the band and was active in all areas of school life. Lois married Don Rogert on January 3, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs, Iowa and they were blessed with four children: Rod, Mike Lori and Lisa. Lois and Don made their home and raised their family in the Benson, Bellevue and LaPlatte areas before moving to Waterloo in 1964. Lois worked at several jobs before and after she was married, including the Ft. Crook Reclamation Center where she and Don met. After her children were born, Lois became a full time wife and mom. Lois enjoyed bowling, Nebraska football, travelling, winters in Arizona and summers fishing in Canada. She treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren and always pampered Don. After Mike was born in 1954, Lois contracted polio which started a long road to recovery. Lois was a loving, caring, opinionated and frugal woman and always had big smile to welcome you. She enjoyed simple things…country music, western movies, a strong CC and water and steak or shrimp at Farmer Brown’s. Lois was very patriotic and could often be heard proclaiming “In God We Trust”. Lois passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2012 at her home near Waterloo, Nebraska with her family by her side at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 26 days. She was preceded in death by her parents DeWitt and Hazel; son Rod, brothers: Bob, Duane and Larry, sister Loyla and son-in-law Mike Johnson. Lois is survived by her husband Don; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Gay of Lincoln; daughters and son-in-law Lori and Mike Dyas of Waterloo and Lisa Johnson of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren: Sandy and Allen Wlaschin of Omaha, Dan and Niki Rogert of Waterloo, Susan Rogert of Excelsor Springs, Missouri, Mick and Brooke Dyas of Waterloo, Travis and Julie Johnson of Omaha, Melissa and Eric Johnson of Waterloo, Kyle and Regina Johnson of Waterloo, Shane Rogert of Lincoln, Casey Rogert of Lincoln and Carlee and Steve Donley of Waterloo; and 10 great grandchildren: Tyler Robert of Waterloo, Madisyn Rogert of Waterloo, Liberty Wlaschin of Omaha, Caleb Johnson of Waterloo, Mason Rogert of Waterloo, Truman Wlaschin of Omaha, Braxton Donley of Waterloo, Polly Johnson of Waterloo, Alexis Donley of Waterloo and Gage Dyas; sisters: Verna Milenkovich of Yutan, and Ruth and Bill Richey of Omaha; and many nieces and nephews. Survived by husband Don; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Gay of Lincoln; daughters and son-in-law Lori and Mike Dyas of Waterloo and Lisa Johnson of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
