Marian Adair Bennett

Marian Adair Wilson Bennett was born on May 25, 1935, in Toronto, Canada, to James and Gertrude Wilson. She grew up in Toronto where she attended school. As a young girl, Marian enjoyed family vacations to Niagara Falls and figure skating which would later become her profession. Marian skated professionally with the Ice Capades and Ice Follies where she met Charles Dennis and married in 1957. They had two children together, Robert and Billy Joe and settled in Bellevue, NE, in the early 1960’s. Marian later worked for Mutual of Omaha selling flight insurance at Eppley Airfield where she met Donald Bennett, a corporate aviator, and married in 1967 in Omaha, Nebraska. Marian enjoyed a life of travel with Don. They had one son, Raymond in 1968. She went on to teach skating at Benson Ice Rink and Motto McLean. Later, Marian would work for Bank of Elkhorn and US Bank in Omaha. She moved to Cumming, GA, after Don’s death to be close to her family. Marian lived in Cumming for 6 years and developed many close friendships there. In 2008 Marian returned to the Omaha area. She enjoyed tennis, travel, time with her family especially her grandchildren and was very consciences of her fitness. Marian is remembered as a strong, independent and bold woman, very athletic and full of energy. Her passions included watching collegiate and professional ice hockey, Husker football and dining at Farmer Browns and El Bee’s. In recent years Marian took her entire family on special vacations which have become treasured memories for her family. She was a loved as a mother, a grandmother and cherished as a dear friend to many. Marian passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Gertrude and her brother Jimmy. Marian is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Ray and Sue Bennett of Elkhorn, NE, Bill and Stephanie Dennis and Robert and Alicia Dennis all of Savannah, GA; daughter and son-in-law Charisa and Tim Voss of Fremont, NE; 6 grandchildren; Cole, Brooke, Jason, MacKenzie, Paige, and Abby
