Marjorie E. (Wiltse) Gell

Marjorie E. Gell, July 18, 1938, to February 26, 2024, passed away after a brief illness. There can be no doubt that Marge loved life with all her being. She often remarked that her favorite color was “sparkle” and the more sparkle, the better. She married Dave Gell in 1958 and never looked back as they enjoyed a fun ride together until Dave’s passing in 2012. They welcomed six children and sadly buried their eldest, Kathryn Gell. They saw their family grow and through it all, Marge made every moment count. She could throw a party, large or small, in a heartbeat and always had the right fork for the occasion as well as a sassy matching napkin. She decorated her home for all of the changing seasons and holidays and enjoyed cooking and baking for friends and family. Her famous “sheep cake” will be dearly missed. Marge went to nursing school when her oldest children were finishing college and she spent more than 25 years working as a psychiatric nurse and using her natural skills as a care provider. She and husband Dave and several close friends traveled the US and Europe with Ireland being her favorite destination of all. Marge had a generous spirit and made sure that the people around her were well cared for, had plenty to eat and drink and had enough “walking around money” to take the wrinkles out of any wallet. She was endlessly proud of her ten grandchildren and would tell anyone who would listen who they were, where they lived and worked, and how adorable they were as little tykes. Marge loved her big family, and her five children, Anne, Tom, John, Susan, and Jennifer were honored to be with her as she passed from this world. Marge leaves behind a bright and sparkling legacy that will live on through her children and grandchildren and through the gift of her spirit she shared so openly with all who met her. Marge was preceded in death by husband, David E. Gell; daughter, Kathryn Gell; parents, Raymond and Blanche Wiltse; sister, Virginia (William ) Lynch; and son-in-law, David (Susan) Horton. She is survived by children: Anne (Ian) Severes, Thomas (Karen) Gell, John (Lisa) Gell, Susan Gell-Horton, and Jennifer (Shane) Roberts; ten loving grandchildren: Jack Gell (Lincoln, NE), Margaret (Jason) Goodhard (Omaha, NE), Patrick Gell (Chicago, IL), Matthew Horton (Dallas, TX), Andrew Horton (Chicago, IL), Bailey Gell, BSN, RN (Kansas City, KS), Brady Gell (Iowa City, IA), Brock Gell (Kansas City, KS), Patrick Roberts (Omaha, NE), and Sarah Severes, BSN, RN (Omaha, NE) and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Rosary with Nebraska Nurse Honor Guard presentation will be held Friday, March 22, 2024, at 7 p.m with visitation from 6-7 at Reichmuth Funeral Home 21901 W. Maple, Elkhorn, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Elkhorn, NE. Private interment following mass, and then a reception at St. Patrick’s in celebration of the life of Marge Gell.
