Mary Jane Frank

Mary Jane (Sharpnack) Frank was born on September 15th, 1935, in Riverside, California to Fred Harold Sharpnack and R. Marie (Pilling) Sharpnack. She grew up in Elkhorn, Nebraska and attended Tech High School, graduating in 1953. Mary Jane married Byron Frank on October 8th, 1954 in Omaha, Nebraska. Their life together took them on an adventure overseas to the Mediterranean Sea and France, where they lived for 13 months. During their time abroad, they experienced French and Italian culture. These years were filled with travel and fun experiences that Mary Jane cherished throughout her life. Mary Jane and Byron Frank were blessed with two sons, Gordon and Steven. Family was at the center of Mary Jane's life. She treasured time spent raising her sons and Byron. The family enjoyed many vacations to the Lake of the Ozarks together, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Throughout her career, Mary Jane served as a legal, church, and school secretary. Her colleagues appreciated her humor at every job, and she made lasting friendships in each place she worked. She retired from Elkhorn Public Schools in 1997. She had many hobbies that brought her happiness throughout her life. Mary Jane enjoyed collecting Pinocchio memorabilia, reading books and her Bible, and playing games like Cribbage. She especially loved counted cross-stitching. Mary Jane was a devoted member of Our Saviour's Baptist Church for 55 years. She found great joy in teaching Sunday school, participating in Bible studies, and volunteering with VBS. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she cherished the friendships she made within her church community. Mary Jane Frank, age 90, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on November 12th, 2025 at Symphony Pointe with family. Mary Jane is survived by her husband of 71 years, Byron Frank. Her son, Gordon Frank and his wife Lisa, and their son Connor. Her son, Steven Frank and his wife Amy, and their children Matthew, Elayna, Caleb, Simeon, Isaac, and DeAndre; two great-grandchildren, Faith and Josephine. Many nieces and nephews including Robert (Bob) Vance, Jennifer Hunter, and Stuart Whiting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Harold Sharpnack and R. Marie Sharpnack; her brothers, Richard Vance and Robert Vance; her sister-in-law, Esther Vance; and her niece, Patricia Vance. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to family, friends, and the Symphony Pointe caregivers for their compassionate care and support. Memorials are sugested to the Open Door Mission.
