Mary Ann White

Mary Ann Chudy White was born on October 7, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary Chudy. She grew up in South Omaha where she graduated from South High School in 1943. As a young girl, Mary enjoyed skating. Mary married Mark White on April 15, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and they were blessed with 9 children: Mary, Margaret, Michael, Mark, Marianne, Marsha, Melody, Martin and Nannette. Mary and Mark raised their family in Baltimore, Maryland and Omaha before settling in Valley. Mary worked some as a waitress but worked at Campbell’s Soup Company in Omaha for 30 years. She was active in the Cub Scouts and Blue Birds. Mary enjoyed craft work, crochet, reading and her doll collection. She was a loving, giving woman with great strength and a feisty demeanor. Mary enjoyed country western music, Dean Martin movies and a good game of rummy. She was an avid Husker fan, who enjoyed dumplings, good coffee and a night out at the Hollywood Diner. Through all this her greatest joy came from her family and the time they could spend together. Mary passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska after a short illness following a car accident at the age of 87 years, 6 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary, husband Mark and 8 brothers and sisters. Mary is survived by her children Mary and Loren Nelson of St. Petersburg, FL, Margaret Garner, Michael and Chris White and Mark White all of Valley; Marianne and Dennis Earwood of Newport News, VA, Marsha and Lonnie Poole of Fremont, Melody and Richard Christofferson, Martin White and Nannette White all of Valley; numerous grandchildren great grandchildren White, Mary age 87 of Valley, NE Survived by children Mary and Loren Nelson of St. Petersburg, FL, Margaret Garner, Michael and Chris White and Mark White all of Valley; Marianne and Dennis Earwood of Newport News, VA, Marsha and Lonnie Poole of Fremont, Melody and Richard Christofferson, Martin White and Nannette White all of Valley; numerous grandchildren great grandchildren; Visitation Thursday noon to 7 PM with at wake service at 7 all at the funeral home.
