Michael Thomas Adams

Michael T. Adams was born on January 28, 1967, to Paul “Roger” and Wilma (Walter) Adams. Mike grew up in Omaha, and as a boy he enjoyed playing baseball, spending many nights playing games outside with the neighbor kids, and weekends spent at Timber Ridge Ranch riding dirt bikes. He attended Paddock Road Elementary School and graduated from Westside High School in 1985. He went on to college at UNO earning his degree in Marketing/Advertising. Mike was married to Elaine Hrabik on August 21, 2004. Although their union was not permanent, it blessed Mike with his stepdaughter, Olivia Taylor, who was 5 at the time of their marriage. They were additionally blessed by the birth of their daughter, Addison Belle in 2005 and again in 2006 with the birth of their son, Hayden Michael. As an adult, Mike played softball and shot in pool leagues. He continued his love of the sport of baseball by coaching Hayden’s youth team. Mike followed in his dad’s footsteps by loving the Minnesota Vikings football team throughout his life. Golfing and boating were also favorite pastimes of Mike’s, as well as baking. He made delicious from scratch homemade pies and his grandmother’s bread recipe for the holidays. At Christmas time he always looked forward to making his special eggnog. Mike also had a love for John Denver and Barry Manilow, and a favorite song from his Peony Park days was “Kids in America”. Most recently, Mike had been working for Johnson Hardware as Project Manager in Integrated Systems. However, his true passion was for his work with DADS (Dads Appreciating Down Syndrome). Mike was one of the co-founders of DADS Omaha and has been active in its leadership since its inception. He spearheaded the initial fundraisers and started the annual fundraiser for Divots for Down Syndrome. Mike was instrumental in helping navigate the creation of Nebraska’s Down Syndrome Awareness license plates. He also served as secretary treasurer and Divots Chairman. Above all, Mike was a devoted and proud father whose kids always came first. Mike was also an eloquent speaker at events that were so important to him. He often put the needs of others before his own, which made him a great friend, the best neighbor ever, and someone who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His facial expressions often started with a smirk and a smile after he had dropped some sarcasm. On May 22, 2024, Mike passed away, but he will always be remembered as a hardworking, honest, selfless, loyal, and a kind-hearted man. Mike was preceded in death by his mom, Wilma Adams and father, Paul “Roger” Adams. He is survived by his children, Addison and Hayden Adams; stepdaughter, Olivia Taylor; stepmother, Donna Adams; sister, Susan (Scott) Hill and their children: Ashley (Travis), Austin (Kristen) and Taylor (Madie); brother, Doug (Chrissy) Adams and their children: April and Kassidy; sister, Kris (Mark) Weber and their children: Erica, Spencer and Brody; great nephew, Hadley Holl; great niece, Holland Hill; former spouse, Elaine Adams; and many extended family members and friends. Family will receive friends Tuesday, May 28th from 4-6:30p.m. at Relevant Community Church with his Celebration of Life service at 6:30p.m. Any memorials may be made to DADS Omaha.
