Nancy Lee Miller

Nancy Lee Miller was born on July 3, 1940 in Fremont, Nebraska to Paul and Myrtle Riley. Being one of nine children, there was never a dull moment growing up. In 1957, Nancy graduated from Fremont High School and a year later she married Noel on June 7, 1958 at Baptist Presbyterian Church in Valley, Nebraska. Nancy and Noel were blessed with three children. Sheryl was born in Texas while Noel was stationed in the Army. The small family moved back to Valley where Lisa was born. After building their home on family land in Waterloo, David was born. Nancy and Noel resided there for over 55 years until they moved to Nye Square in Fremont. Nancy was a devoted wife and affectionate mother. She adored her family and stayed home to raise her children. Once they were grown, she decided to work as a Para educator in special education at DC West. She was extremely kind and loving, and had a deep passion for her students. When she wasn’t working, Nancy enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Chiefs, and the Cornhuskers play. She was always an active book club member, as well as a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society and the Valley Lioness Club. She consistently worked daily crosswords from the newspaper and had a soft spot for game shows on television. Nancy also loved feeding her neighborhood squirrels and eating Rice Krispie treats. Nancy was a loving, kind, true friend, and doting grandmother and great grandmother. Those who knew her well knew how she loved her family fiercely, and had true faith in the Lord. She will be deeply missed by those lucky enough to have called her a friend, sister, Mom, or Mommo. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Myrtle Riley; brothers: Virgil and Marvin Riley; sisters: Alta Alshouse and Donna Rooney; and grandson, David Martz. She is survived by her husband, Noel; children: Sheryl (Berl) Beamis, Lisa (Mike) Egbarts, and Dave “Punch” (Sue) Miller; grandchildren: Danielle Martz, Sarina (Ronnie) Pichler, Efren (Julie) Sinecio, Tyler Miller, and Mary Holzapfel-Miller; great grandchildren: Parker Gray and Olivia Pichler; brothers: Jim, Eldon, and Ron (Newt) Riley; and sister, Doris Fritz. VISITATION: Friday, November 25, 5-7PM at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 26, 10AM at United Faith Community Church in Valley, NE. INTERMENT: Elk City Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
