Patricia Jean Duncan

Patricia Jean Duncan was born September 8, 1932, in Gary, Indiana to Perry and Marie Inman. Patricia moved to Excelsior Springs, Missouri as a child where she attended high school, graduating in 1950. She attended college at the University of Missouri where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and graduated magna cum laude in 1954. Pat and Billy were high school sweethearts and they married on June 30, 1956, at Excelsior Springs First Presbyterian Church. She and Billy had four children. They resided throughout the Midwest: Missouri, Minnesota, Iowa and finally landing in Elkhorn, NE for the last 55 years. Pat returned to college and earned her master’s degree in education from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She taught elementary-aged children for over 20 years in Iowa and Nebraska, spending most of her teaching career at Bryan Elementary in Millard, NE. Pat’s love of teaching extended to her volunteer work at Elkhorn Public Schools which focused on teaching reading. She also taught swimming to children with special needs. Pat’s passions included reading, swimming, and enjoying an active, healthy lifestyle. Most days, you could find Pat at Alegent Wellness Center or Common Ground Recreation and Aquatic Center where she enjoyed working out and developed many friendships. Pat’s other interest was reading. She enjoyed browsing the aisles of the Elkhorn Public Library, participating in book clubs as well as volunteering during her retirement years. Pat’s greatest gift to her children was her love of education and a desire for all her children to get a college degree. She was successful. Pat was preceded in death by her parents Perry and Marie Inman, brother Alton Inman, grandson Cole French (Angie), and her husband of 57 years, Billy Duncan. Pat is survived by her children: Sharon Goodman of Lynn Haven, FL, Teresa Bray of Ashland, NE, Brenda Beasley of Omaha, NE, Dan (Penny) Duncan of Parker, CO; grandchildren: CMSgt Jason Childers, Jackie Goodman, Cody Bray, Austin Bray, Conner Bray, Nathan Beasley, and great grandchildren: Caily Yard, Lexi Bray, Scarlett Bray, Ava Bray, Olivia Bray, Carter French, Kennedy Childers, Wyatt Childers and Oliver Allen.
