Ronald Charles Romans

Ronald C. Romans was born on November 27, 1937 in Ord, NE to Howard (Jack) and Glea (Porter) Romans. He passed on February 25, 2025 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha with loving family and Pastor Dave by his side. Ron grew up in the Ord area and attended Ord High School where he met his sweetheart and wife to be, Phyllis (Jackie) Jablonski. They were married on June 13, 1959, giving them 65 wonderful years together. They were blessed with four loving children; David, Jeffrey, Scott and Alison whom he adored. Ron and Jackie moved the family to Yutan in 1973. Ron had a diverse career but was primarily rooted in trucking. In fact, he was the third generation and now we stand at five generations. He owned and operated several companies: Romans Motor Freight, RCR, Inc., PLR, Inc. and Romans Transportation. During this time, he also served a term as Chairman of the Nebraska Trucking Association. As many of you know, Ron was a staunch Republican. With those beliefs in hand, he participated in many elections serving as Young Republican Chairman at three levels, Douglas County, State of Nebraska and National Chairman of the Young Republicans. He worked for Congressman John Y. McCollister in Washington, DC and Senator Ed Zorinsky. Ron served as a U.S. Marshal for six year (1974-1980) and was based out of Omaha. Other committees he served on as Chairman were, Saunders County Hospital Board, Yutan School Board, and St. John’s Lutheran Church. Even with all these responsibilities, Ron always had time for his family. He loved watching his children play their sports and other activities, then his nine grandchildren and then eventually his 11 great grandchildren. Ron and Jackie enjoyed many traveling adventures. They love travelling with friends. They fondly remember their golfing trips with the Hanson’s to many parts of the U.S. and their world trips with their dear friends the Brase and Althege. So many beautiful countries were visited, many by cruise ships. We can only say ‘We’ve had a wonderful life!’ Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, son Jeffrey and brother Harry. He is survived by wife Jackie, son David (Karen) in Ashland; son Scott (Michelle) in Omaha, daughter Alison (Scott) Conley in Omaha, Daughter in Law Sara Romans in Valley, sister Gay Romans in Houston, Sister Carolyn Glover in Omaha, 9 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren and numerous Nieces and Nephews. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Family for Later Designation.
