Rose May Carson

Rose May (Marie) King Carson was born on August 4, 1932 in Howards Mill, Kentucky to John and Grace (Mounts) King. She grew up in Middletown, Ohio where she attended grade school and graduated from Middletown High School in 1950. As a young girl, Rose grew up on the family farm, where from an early age she learned to love the outdoors and spent endless hours helping her father with the chores. She enjoyed softball and volleyball and learned to sew. Rose and her sisters went to work at the family drive-in restaurant and later she was a waitress at the prestigious Racquet Club where she became friends with stars like Phyllis Diller, Don Rickles, George Carlin and Jackie Gleason. Rose married Ronald Carson on June 16, 1962 in Liberty, Indiana and they were blessed with two children while living in Ohio: Ron and Ronda. They moved to Tekamah, Nebraska in 1975 and settled in Omaha years later. Rose was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active homemaker, gardener and enjoyed canning and making her blue-ribbon chicken and dumplings. Rose was a hard working woman and was very creative in all of her endeavors. She loved playing cards, reading books and trips to the casino. If you would have asked her, she either broke even or won. Rose was a unique woman with conservative political views, strong opinions and was outspoken yet truly loving and engrossed in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan that kept the family in constant controversy. Rose passed away peacefully at Edgewood Vista in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 27 days. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Grace, sisters Millie and Carol, brother John and son Mike. Rose is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ron; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Jeanie Carson of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law Ronda and Randall (Donut) Bromm of Tekamah, Nebraska; 6 grandchildren Chelsie (Will) Morales, Madison and Grant Carson and Claire, Alyssa and Brady Bromm; sister Barbara (Gene) Hudson of Middletown, Ohio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Doris King of Middletown, Ohio; Dale and Kathy Carson of Omaha; Carol Brummond of Herman, NE; Merle Carson of Omaha and LaVonne Carson of Wakefield, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews and her companion Lab, Nellie.
