Ruth Margaret Haughawout

Ruth Margaret “Marge” (Dible) Haughawout was born November 27, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas to Ray Hershel and Almeda Ora (Long) Dible. Marge grew up in Rexford, Kansas, and attended school there, graduating from Rexford High School in 1941. She went on to attend college at Marymount College in Topeka, Kansas. As a young girl, Marge was active in 4-H, and enjoyed spending time with her friends. Marge married Thurman Isaac Haughawout on February 9, 1944 at First Methodist Church in Fostoria, Ohio, and to this union, four sons were born; Michael, Pete, Robert, and David. The family made their home in Ohio and Colorado, before settling in Kansas. Marge worked for many years as a warranty claims clerk for different auto dealers. She stayed busy sewing, was an avid reader, and could often be found baking or cooking, making sure to always have fresh cookies baked for the grandkids. She was a hard-working, loving, frugal, fun, and adventurous woman. Marge enjoyed ‘40’s and ‘50’s music, all types of flowers, a good cup of coffee, and dinner out either for Chinese or Mexican. She was a fan of “Gone With the Wind” and the music of “The Sound of Music”. She cherished her honeymoon with Ike to Niagara Falls and the birth of her four sons, and she loved always getting together with her family. Marge will be remembered for her good example of hard work, and how she took care of her family. Marge died April 3, 2019 at Life Care Center of Elkorn in Elkhorn, Nebraska at the age of 95 years, 4 months, and 6 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thurman Isaac, sons Pete & Robert, brother Donald, granddaughter Angela and Great grandson Alistar. Survived by sons & daughters-in-law Michael & Janet Haughawout of Bennington, NE, David & Andrea Haughawout of Albuquerque, NM, daughters-in-law Janet of Van Cleave, MI, and LuAnn of Wichita, KS, 5 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and brother & sister-in-law William & Donna Dible of Rexford, KS. Ruth Margaret Haughawout, age 95, died 4/3/19. Preceded in death by husband Thurman Isaac, sons Peter & Robert, brother Donald, granddaughter Angela and Great grandson Alistar. Survived by sons & daughters-in-law Michael & Janet of Bennington, NE, David & Andrea of Albuquerque, NM, daughters-in-law Janet of Van Cleave, MI, and LuAnn of Wichita, KS, 5 grandchildren, 1 step grandchild, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and brother & sister-in-law William & Donna Dible of Rexford, KS. Funeral service 12:30 PM Tuesday, The Chuch of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17606 Spaulding St., Omaha, NE with visitation from 2 hours prior to the service at church. Interment Thursday 11 AM at Rexford Cemetery, Rexford, KS. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association
