Theresa Monica Weidner

Theresa Monica (Polzin) Weidner was born on September 26, 1905 on the family farm northwest of Linsay, Nebraska. She grew up on the farm with her eleven siblings and attended Holy Family Catholic School in Lindsay. As a young girl, Theresa enjoyed the simple pleasures of rural life including cooking, crochet, dances and gatherings of family and friends. But she also recalled the hard times that came also: picking corn by hand, tending to the grove of fruit trees and walking three and a half miles to school. Theresa married Daniel E. Weidner on April 26, 1927 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lindsay, Nebraska and to this union four children were born: Alvin, Daniel, Jr., Irene and Elton. Theresa and Daniel raised their family on a farm near St. Bernard, Nebraska before moving to Madison, Nebraska and finally in 1956 to Omaha, Nebraska. Theresa was first and foremost a wonderful wife and mother and after moving to Omaha she worked for 25 years as a cook at Creighton Prep High School for the Jesuit priests. She loved to cook and entertain her family. Theresa treasured family reunions and her special birthday parties (80th, 90th and 100th). She was active in St. Thomas More Missionary Society, Catholic Daughters of America and with the ladies of the church. Theresa was very devout and dedicated to her faith. She received great comfort from praying her rosary and was very proud of Father Anthony. Theresa and Daniel shared 49 years together before his death in 1975. Theresa passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at the Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 103 years, 3 months and 30 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Theodore and Barbara, husband Daniel, son Daniel, Jr., brothers Theodore Jr., Joseph, Raymond, Ralph and Lawrence, sisters Lena Polzin, Clara Polzin, Clara Neibur, Cecelia, Brand and Alvina Murphy and son-in-law James Pipan; survived by sons and daughters-in-law Alvin and Gloria of Omaha and Elton and Sarah of Blair, NE; daughter Irene Pipan of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren Lori Tabler, Patricia Sechrest, Michael Weidner, Douglas Pipan, Diane Pipan, Sandra Fosdick, Kristen Wolf, Danny Kennedy, Sherry Brownrigg and Fr. Anthony Weidner and great grandchildren Megan Tabler, Jennie Tabler, Steven Sechrest, Beth Sechrest, Jamie Sechrest, Carolynn Logan, Andrew Fosdick, Bryan Fosdick, Eric Wolf, Amy Wolf, Jasmine Kennedy and Briana Kennedy.
