Anton W. “Tony” Linbo, Jr. was born July 22, 1928 in Mower County, Minnesota, to Anton W. and Agnes (Brekke) Linbo. Tony grew up in Sargeant, Minnesota and attended Hayfield Elementary school, and graduated from Hayfield High School in Hayfield, Minnesota in 1946. Tony was active in football and basketball in high school, and liked to bowl, play baseball, sing and play guitar. He was also involved on the family farm. After high school, he attended Austin Junior College. Tony married Lorraine Kujath on November 26, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota, and to this union, three children were born; Steven, Randy, and Valerie. Tony worked for several years for Hartford Insurance. He held numerous roles with Hartford, working as an auditor, underwriter, and in marketing. Due to his work, the family moved to several different places through the years; from Wichita, KS to Hays, KS, Farmington, MN, Omaha, NE, Huxley, IA, and back to Omaha, they made many friends. Tony loved playing cards, golfing, and taking trips with Lorraine. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, and he enjoyed listening to Christian music, his favorite song being “In the Garden”. He was a fan of the Chicago White Sox, and the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and enjoyed a good steak dinner and a cold beer. He cherished his time with Lorraine, his three kids, and especially looked forward to time with the grandkids and great grandkids. Tony will be remembered for his smile, his sense of humor, and his kindness. Tony died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Silver Ridge Assisted Living in Gretna, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 1 month and three days. He was preceded in death by his parents Anton & Agnes Linbo and 3 brothers; John, Morris, and Richard Linbo. Tony is survived by his wife Lorraine, sons and daughters-in-law Steve & Sandra and Randy & Mary all of Omaha, daughter Val Hansen of Elkhorn, 6 grandchildren; Steffany, Michelle, Kyle, Trent, John, and David, 3 great grandchildren; Logan, Charlotte, and Nora, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service 10:30 AM Monday at the funeral home. Interment Prospect Hill Cemetery, Elkhorn. Visitation Sunday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home in Elkhorn. Memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church or Hillcrest Hospice.
