Cheryl Marie Possehl

May 10, 1945 - April 25, 2022

Cheryl was born on May 10, 1945 in Fargo, North Dakota to Chester and Violet (Nystrom) Eugene. She grew up in Bismark, North Dakota where she enjoyed playing the piano and violin and singing in the choir. In 1963, she graduated from Bismark High School and later graduated from Concordia college in 1966 with a Bachelor’s in education. Cheryl enjoyed her work as a teacher and a dedicated stay at home mom. Some of Cheryl’s favorite pastimes were cheering for the Viking and Yankees, doing crossword puzzles, and watching musicals; The Sound of Music and Sister Act were two of her favorites. She also enjoyed getting together for lunch with other mothers of her daughter’s high school friends. This was a monthly tradition for the last 35 years. She also had a lunch group with former Gallup Employees. Cheryl had a special talent when it came to saving money. She was the best couponer and grocery shopper around. Cheryl was caring and independent, loved to visit with everyone, and was always willing to help others. She had a great sense of humor and could be stubborn. Her family will remember all of the times she said “For Pete’s Sake” and “Good Grief”. Spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s events was what she cherished most. Cheryl would teach her grandchildren to spell grandma as f-u-n. She especially enjoyed the family Christmases spent in Lakeville and loved to have the whole family together. Preceded in death by parents Chester and Violet Eugene, and brother Don Eugene. Survived by daughter and son-in-law Kari & Jay Pilkington of Yutan, and son Kyle Possehl of Omaha, grandchildren; Payton, Carson, Janson, Dakotah, and Faith, and great grandson Liam, brother and sister-in-law Bob & Mary Eugene of Minneapolis, MN. Memorial service 11 AM Friday at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Elkhorn. Private interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
