memorials to the Kidney Foundation Edith Loree Rowell Riepl was born on May 3, 1925 in Barada, Nebraska to Jay and Gladys (Severs) Rowell. She grew up near Auburn, Nebraska where she attended country school until the sixth grade before the family moved to the Two Rivers area south of Waterloo, Nebraska. Edith completed 8th grade at District #24 Country School and graduated from Valley High School . Edith married Harry Riepl in Muskegee, Oklahoma in 1942 while Harry was in the Service. Edith and Harry lived in Fremont and Waterloo. While Harry was serving our country, Edith worked at various jobs, including moving to Seattle to work at Boeing Air Craft while staying with her sister, Robinson Seed Company and the Waterloo Post Office. She enjoyed her flowers, quilting, knitting, crochet, reading, crossword puzzles and camping but most of all Edith loved “Good Will Shopping”. Highlights of her life include Harry’s return from the service and celebrating their 50 Anniversary and her 90th birthday. Edith is remembered as the Matriarch of the family, kind, good natured and neat. Edith passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at her home in Elkhorn, surrounded by her family at the age of 95 years, 2 months and 4 days. She is preceded in death by her parents Jay and Gladys, three sisters, 4 brothers-in-law and 2 sisters-in-law. Edith is survived by her brother Norman Rowell of Elkhorn; sisters Lola Simmerman of Omaha, Neva Kellett ( Richard Decklever) of Pleasant Hill, IA and Wilda (Ron) Thompson of Bushnell, FL;
