Memorials to the church building fund; JoAnn Helen Gerlemann Redel was born on March 16, 1947 in Winside, Nebraska to Herbert and Esther Greunke Gerlemann. She grew up on the family farm near Wayne, Nebraska where she attended country school and graduated from Wayne High School in 1964. JoAnn was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Winside. JoAnn married Stanley “Butch” Redel on July 15, 1967 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Winside and they were blessed with two children: Terry and Tami; JoAnn and Butch raised their family in Bennington, Nebraska and Wayne, Nebraska. JoAnn worked at Bohn Construction, Bennington Public Schools as cafeteria manager and Riteway Oil. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and gardening. JoAnn cherished her family and counted her vacation to Hawaii as a highlight in her life. JoAnn was a loving, caring and thoughtful woman. She enjoyed steak and lobster and dinner out at Farmer Brown’s. JoAnn passed away peacefully at her home in Omaha on June 11, 2018 at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 26 days. She was preceded in death by her father Herbert, step-father Leo Hansen, mother Esther and brothers-in-law Darrell Braesch and Dennis Redel. JoAnn is survived by her husband Stanley “Butch”; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Tanya Redel of Junction City, KS; daughter Tami Soto of Omaha; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; in-laws Leila Braesch of Elkhorn, Gary “Fizzy” and Linda (Redel) of Bennington, Larry and Kathy Redel of Columbus, NE and Gayle Redel and John Smith of Omaha; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
