John "Butch" Jacobi

Memorials to VNA John Paul Jacobi was born on February 26, 1936 in a farmhouse near Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Henry and Clare (Micek) Jacobi, the youngest of three children. The family moved to a farm south of Waterloo, Nebraska in 1943 where John attended District #14 through the 8th grade. He graduated from Valley High School in 1953. John was very active through his high school years in vocal music and track and field as a sprinter and jumper. John served his country in the United States Army for two years, of which 20 months was spent in Japan. He was honorably discharged in April of 1956. John attended the University of Omaha for a year. John married Mary Lou LaRosa on November 19, 1960 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska and they were blessed with two children: Patti and Robb. John and Mary Lou have made their home in Valley. John went to work for Valmont Industries and retired after 40 years of employment. John enjoyed following both his children through all activities while they were in school and later the same with his grandchildren whenever possible. He loved movies, yard and garden, Las Vegas, grilling outdoors and a good, cold beer not necessarily in any specific order. Although a cold beer could go with any of them. John passed away early in the morning on July 25, 2020 at his home in Valley, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 4 months and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Clare and siblings Charles and Esther. John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Lou; son Robb (Stephanie) of Perry Park, CO; daughter Patricia (Brent) Evans of Greenwood Village, CO; 4 grandchildren Tyler Evans, Paige Johnson, Travis and Trent. 5 great grandchildren ; Grayson and Jacobi and Wesson, Wrigly and Wells.
