Memorials to St. Patrick's Catholic Church Richard Dennis Kwapniowski was born on November 16, 1946 in Tarnov, Nebraska to Peter and Stella (Pytel) Kwapniowski. He grew up in Tarnov where he attended grade school before graduating from Humphrey St. Francis High School in 1964. As a young boy Richard was active in football. Richard married Linda Paasch on August 8, 1970 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska and they were blessed with four children: Kevin, Michelle, Scott and Ron; Richard and Linda raised their family in Columbus and Millard before settling in Elkhorn in 1974. Richard worked for an elevator company, Schuyler Packing House, custom corn shelling and farming for Fritz Paasch, Walnut Grove, Wahoo Packing House and for the last 28 years at 3M Corporation before retiring in 2013. Richard was a man of few words but when he did speak, you listened. He was a loving, hard-working and humble man with a deep love for his family and a strong faith, making sure he’d get Marie, his mother-in-law, to church every Sunday. Richard worked hard to keep his home and yard neat and tidy. To relax, he enjoyed listening to polka music and touring the countryside checking out the crops. Richard was an avid Husker, Cubs, Antler and Wahoo Warrior fan, enjoyed fried chicken, a cold Coors light and dinner out at El Bee’s, Alpine Inn or Farmer Brown’s. He loved his grandchildren so much and he took pride in all their accomplishments over the years. He didn’t tolerate junk, clutter or a messy work area. Richard passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home in Elkhorn, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Stella and siblings Don, Lucian, Ray, Ted, Chester, Marge and Nancy. Richard is survived by his wife Linda; sons Kevin (Lisa), Scott, and Ron (Crystal) all of Elkhorn; daughter Michelle (Brent) Krecklow of Ithaca, NE; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson and 1 more on the way; brothers Eugene of FL and David (Loretta) of Columbus, NE; Kwapniowski, Richard D. age 71 years of Elkhorn, NE; Survived by wife Linda; sons Kevin (Lisa), Scott, and Ron (Crystal) all of Elkhorn; daughter Michelle (Brent) Krecklow of Ithaca, NE; 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; brothers Eugene of FL and David (Loretta) of Columbus, NE; Visitation Thursday 3 to 7 PM with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home with a wake service at 7 PM; Funeral Mass Friday at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn.
