Memorials to American Cancer Society or St. Andrew’s Methodist Church; Sandy Aldy November 20, 1944 - December 25, 2020 Sandy was born November 20, 1944 and grew up in central Mississippi, graduating from Kosciusko Senior High School in 1962. She met Luke Aldy (L.M.) in 1961 and they married shortly thereafter in November 1962. They began their life together in Birmingham, Alabama, where Matt was born in 1964. They moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where Amy was born in 1968. Sandy and Luke moved to Omaha, Nebraska in November 1973 and celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past year. Sandy is survived by her husband, Luke; and two children: son, Matt (Pam) Aldy of Omaha; daughter, Amy (Brent) Bench of Omaha; grandchildren: Brandon (Lauren) Aldy, Neely Aldy, Baylee Bench, and Luke Bench; brother, Gary (Karen) Neely and nephew, Eric of Pearl, MS; and daughter-in-law, Corey Aldy of Omaha. Sandy was an avid tennis player and made many lifelong friendships during the decades in which she played. She loved her Chardonnay tennis lunches with her friends. She made friends everywhere she went and nurtured these relationships. Her friendships were so important to her and were nothing less than life long. She was passionate about her volunteer work with the Child’s Savings Institute and loved her time with her pre-school kids at the Jewish Community Center. She hosted countless ‘parties’ and family events at her lake house in Fremont. Her Southern hospitality was on full display, known as our Steele Magnolia. She carried her nickname “Grandmommy”, very well and was viewed as a second mother and grandmother by so many. Sandy’s ultimate passion in life was her four grandchildren. She helped raise each of them as babies and played a significant role in all their lives. They were truly the joy of her life. Above all, she loved spending time with her family.
