Connie J. Simons, 67 of Mead, NE, passed away 3/3/23. Preceded in death by parents Bud & June Simons, infant son Jeffrey Dean Simons, brother Gary Simons, and brother-in-law Corky Charles. Survived by significant other Brad Howell, stepson Travis (Jen) Howell and their daughters Lauren & London, siblings; Pat (Doug) Sorensen, Kay (Dick) Pelster, Donald (Glenice) Simons, Vicky Charles, and Janet Fisher, 15 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Funeral service 10:30 AM Thursday, St. James Catholic Church, Mead, NE. Interment Pleasant View Cemetery, Leshara, NE. Visitation Wednesday form 5-7 PM at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Yutan with Rosary at 7 PM. Memorials to the family for later designation. Connie “Bones” Simons from Mead, Nebraska, at 67 years old, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 3, 2023, at home, with her loved ones by her side. Connie was born August 16, 1955 to Bud and June Simons. Her school years were all at Mead Public School. After graduating from High School in 1973, she started her full time job at Josten’s Trophy Company in Omaha, NE. She was employed there for 40 years. She also worked many part-time jobs, one of her favorites was being a waitress at Don’s Bar in Memphis, Nebraska. Connie loved being around people, she couldn’t retire so she found a great part-time job at the Warehouse in Wahoo, NE. Connie always had a spring in her step, a smile on her face, and joy in her laughter. She loved spoiling her nieces and nephews, probably set the world record for Christmas gifts and happy tears, because when the love was returned to her, she couldn’t stop crying. Connie enjoyed making ceramics and giving them to loved ones. Bowling was a great past time, she was proud of her high scores and many trips for tournaments, as Bud’s Tippers, even taking her to Las Vegas. The highlight of every year was River City Roundup, where she helped feed all the trail riders pancakes for breakfast when they came riding into Mead, NE. Then in 1989, the best thing in Brad’s life happened, he met Connie. She loved becoming a family with Brad and Travis, Jen, Lauren and London. Connie had a fear of driving so Brad convinced her to get behind the wheel. There were some scary moments, but the task of getting a driver’s license was accomplished. They both loved gardening and cooking together, and their trips to Santee, Yankton and especially Hartington to visit Travis and his family. Connie loved the outdoors, taking country tours, visiting family and friends, feeding the birds and squirrels, waving hello to all, and she enjoyed a few cold ones with Brad out on their wheelchair ramp. Connie is survived by Brad Howell, Travis (Jen) Howell and their daughters Lauren and London; siblings Pat (Doug) Sorensen, Kay (Dick) Pelster, Donald (Glenice) Simons, Vicky Charles, and Janet Fisher; 15 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Bud and June Simons, infant son Jeffrey Dean Simons, brother Gary Simons, and brother-in-law Corky Charles.
