Delores Ann Hansen

Delores Hansen, age 87 of Bennington, NE died on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Ridgewood Assisted Living in Bennington. She was born the daughter of Matthias and Mary (Miller) Smith on June 28, 1931 in Primrose, NE. Delores graduated from Primrose High School in 1948. After graduation Delores moved to Omaha, NE and worked for World Insurance. Delores met Harlan Hansen and on June 5, 1954 they got married in Omaha. In their 64 years of marriage, they brought 8 children into this world, as well as 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Delores enjoyed all her family through good times and bad times. She was always there no matter what the situation was. Her and Harlan lived on several small farms near Bennington, NE and Elkhorn, NE also Denison, IA for 6 years. They lived in their house in Elkhorn, NE for 24 years until they moved to Ridgewood Assisted Living in Bennington, NE in 2013. Delores worked at Western Electric from 1969 until she retired in 1995. She worked many long hours and so enjoyed being around people. After retiring, Delores attended church every morning and did some traveling from East Coast to West Coast until she couldn’t travel anymore because of her stroke in January 2012. She was a member of the Bennington Legion Auxiliary and Elkhorn Eagles Auxiliary. Delores was a very stubborn lady and she fought until the end when she couldn’t fight anymore. Delores will be missed tremendously. DELORES ENJOYED LIFE TO IT’S FULLEST. Delores was Preceded in death by: her parents, Matthias and Mary Smith; daughter, Regina Hansen; son, Ted Hansen; son-in-law, Kerry Campfield; sisters, Julie Keller, Rita Hansen and Teri Wildhagen; brothers, Frances, John and Peter Smith. She is survived by: her husband, Harlan of Bennington; daughters, Rosetta (Tim) Roll of Omaha, Mary (Bill) Smith of Omaha, Agnes Neal of Olney, MD, Janice (Larry) Saunders of Washington, NE and Karen Campfield of Gastonia; NC; son, Tim Hansen of Omaha; sisters, Agatha Horvatich of Elkhorn and Lucille Schram of Papillion, NE ; brothers, Bill Smith of Springfield, NE, Marty Smith of Elkhorn, Larry Smith of Omaha and Tony Smith of Papillion.
