Delores May Wiemers

Delores May (Besack) Wiemers was born on February 3, 1945, in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Harold and Ruby (Hemphill) Besack. She was raised in Beatrice and graduated from Beatrice High School in 1963. It was also in Beatrice where she met the love of her life, Gene. While he was cruising in his new 1962 Chevy Supersport, Delores couldn’t resist asking for a ride—and the rest is history. On April 28, 1964, she married Gene Wayne Wiemers, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter, raising three sons: Jeff, Greg, and Chris. Throughout their years together, Gene and Delores made their home in several communities across Nebraska, Texas, and South Dakota. While living in McCook, Delores was an active member of NWAGA, the Matinee Music Club, and Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Delores was known for her adventurous spirit and enthusiasm for life. She enjoyed playing golf and bridge, occasionally frequenting a casino, and she loved to travel. Her life was rich with experiences, as she journeyed across the world with Gene and her siblings to destinations including Hawaii, Chile, Australia, Italy, Morocco, Venezuela, and Canada. In true Delores fashion, she even celebrated her 60th birthday by skydiving—an experience she often said she wished she could relive again and again. Above all else, Delores cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She had a playful yet competitive nature and made sure every game—whether cards or Candyland—was earned, never given. Delores was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Ruby Besack; her sister, Carol Weber; her father-in-law, William Wiemers; her mother-in-law, Lana Wiemers; and her son, Jeff Wiemers. She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Greg (Kara) Wiemers and Chris (Mackenzie) Wiemers; daughter-in-law, Laurie Wiemers; her many grandchildren: Ashley (Travis), Alexandria (Dalton), Taylor (Alex), Nick (Kaylee), Jacob (Amanda), Sophia (Daniel), Bella, Kaizlie, Kyzer, Morgan (Harrison), Cameron (Grace), Malainey, Makenna, and Cale; six great-grandchildren; her sisters, Beverly Johnson, Eleanor Steepleton, and Marlene K. Ubel; her brother, Clark L. Besack; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn, Nebraska, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to a luncheon at Connect55 (located at 3535 Piney Creek Drive, Elkhorn, NE) following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's/Dementia Association.
