James Mark Curtsinger

James Mark Curtsinger was born on October 9, 1954 in Fremont, Nebraska to Harold & Marie J (Sass) Rasmussen, he was then adopted by Joe E Curtsinger at the age of two. He grew up in Douglas County, attending grade school in Omaha and Bennington and graduating from Bennington High School in 1973. He went on to study at Hastings College for two years. As a young boy, Jim was active in many sports but he especially enjoyed football. He was interested in cars, hanging out with friends and loved to spend time at Grandpa Sass’ farm. Jim married Pam McDonald on August 26, 1989 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bennington and they were blessed with two children: Jeffrey and Jessica. Jim and Pam have always made their home in Bennington. Jim was a "Jack-of-all-Trades". He worked as an apprentice electrician, Bee Keeper, concrete mason, and farming before becoming a lot coordinator with Taylor and Martin. Most recently, he worked as a truck driver for Valley Corp. He enjoyed his yard work, socializing, and playing and coaching softball. Most of all he loved being with his children. He was a "Proud Peacock" whether he was watching sporting or musical events. Jim was a stubborn, hardworking, handsome man with a great sense of humor. He could be ornery or sweet as a teddy bear. In our family the boys were "Morning People", and the girls were "Not!" Some mornings he would tease Jessica while they were both looking in the bathroom mirror he would say "Jess, I did it again...I get better and better lookin' every day!" He enjoyed everything that came from Pam’s kitchen, a cold Busch Light and the comfort of his recliner. Jim had little tolerance for tardiness and was challenged by his entire family. : ) Jim passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 19, 2015 in the Emergency Room at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Bill and Lora Sass, fathers Joe Curtsinger and Harold Rasmussen and step father Wesley Williams. Jim is survived by wife Pam; son Jeffrey; daughter Jessica; mother Marie Williams and sister Cindy Buhl all of Bennington; mother-in-law and father-in-law Shirley and Bill McDonald of Bennington; brother-in-law Mick McDonald of Waterloo, NE and sister-in-law Jodee McDonald of Bennington; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
