Jean Marie Coard (Cockerill) ( Suey)

Jean Marie Cockerill was born July 6, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska to John James 'Jim' and Gladys (Elwick) Cockerill. Jean lived in Omaha for a short time and the family moved to Gretna where she attend school, graduating from Gretna High School in 1959. Growing up Jean helped on the family farm was a cheerleader in school and met the love of her life Walt Suey. Jean attended the College of St. Mary in Omaha but then left college to marry Walt in May 1961 at St. Patrick's Church in Gretna and they moved to California as Walt was in the Navy. To this union seven children were born: Debbie, Brenda, Nadine, Kaleen, Michelle, Janette and Lonnie. The couple moved from California in 1965 to raise their family near Springfield, NE. Jean was a stay-at-home mom for many years and would always take in more kids to babysit. Scott Kreifels became her eighth child (what's one more when you have seven). When all the kids were older, she started her job at Dana, Larson and Roubal (DLR Group) in Omaha as a receptionist until eventually the admin supervisor. When all her kids had grown, Jean decided it was time to expand her life and moved to Seattle WA, relocating her job to the Seattle office in 1994. Jean then met Gary Coard and she would retire early and started her new adventure of living on boats and traveling the world. Her first was 'Ghost Fox', a sailboat and then Gary and Jean bought their beloved Krogen 'Daisy' where they started many years of boating around the East coast, making friends everywhere they went. Jean has always been the social butterfly, and she had many new boating friends she would cherish. Jean and Gary were married on Daisy on November 28, 1998. Jean returned to Omaha to live for health reasons and reconnecting with all her extended family and friends. She enjoyed throwing her tea parties and being around all grandkids and great grandkids. Jean passed away on March 6, 2026, at Marquis Place in Elkhorn, Nebraska at the age of 83 years. She was proceeded in death by her parents Jim and Gladys. Jean is survived by her children: Deb (Bryan) Holzworth, Brenda Wyzenski, Nadine (Gary) Chuba, Kaleen Ryder, Michelle (John) Chappuies, Janette Suey, and Lon (Terri) Suey; 16 grandchildren: Jake, Laura, Shane, Joe, Mandy, Kyle, Cammi, Listy, Kurtice, Anthony, Jessica, Jack, Storm, Kieron, Sasha and Khloe; 11 great grandchildren; siblings: Marialyce (Gerry) Wagner, John (Hoa) Cockerill and Maggie (Mark) Starling and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. Inurnment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Gretna. Memorials will be to the family for later designation to local Alzheimer's organizations and to Jean Marie's Babies, to purchase baby dolls for Alzheimer Memory Care Facilities.
