June J Nielsen

June J. Nielsen was born on June 28, 1935 in Neodesha, Kansas to Allen and Ambaline (Wilson) Bryson. She spent her childhood in Neodesha, and the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska when June was in high school. She graduated from Omaha Tech High. On August 24, 1951 she married the love of her life, Jack Nielsen. They were together for 68 years until his passing in 2020. Together, they raised their family in Omaha. Throughout her life, June worked as a bookkeeper at various businesses. She was a devoted Christian and was a longtime member at Florence Christian Church, where she and Jack served on various committees. They focused on teaching, Missions, and mentoring young couples. June and Jack also enjoyed traveling across the country for meetings and shows for the Studebaker Drivers Club. They won Best of Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, 1975. In their retirement, they had vacation homes on Pickerel Lake near Fergus Falls, Minnesota and in Casa Grande, Arizona. Their children and grandchildren loved to visit them at the vacation homes, and they also had many different church families that visited them throughout the years. June was a joyful and thoughtful woman, who loved to welcome everyone with a hug. She had a way of making everyone feel like they were her “favorite.” June was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ambaline Bryson; husband, Jack Nielsen; son, Greg Nielsen; daughter, Christy Woobank; and siblings: Dorothy Osborn, Roy Kloepfer, Peggy Boyer, Barbara “Bobbie” Birkhofer, and Lana Nisley. June passed peacefully on the morning of February 16, 2026. She is survived by her children: Kathy Pettengill and Jeff (Kathy) Nielsen; 9 grandchildren: Greg’s son, James; Christy’s kids: Catrina and Scottie; Kathy’s kids: Tracy and Michael; and Jeff’s kids: Joel, Jessica, Maggie, and Chloe; 11 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and siblings: Cherry (Bruce) Ryan and David Bryson (Ginger), plus numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30am on Monday, February 23, 2026 at Florence Christian Church, 7300 Northridge Dr., Omaha, NE 68112, with a funeral service to follow at 10:30am. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Florence Christian Church.
