Kenneth Matthew Grimm

Kenneth Matthew Grimm was born on September 2, 1962, in Omaha, Nebraska to Adolph and Ellen (Villwok) Grimm. He grew up in Waterloo and graduated from Waterloo High School in 1980. As a kid, he enjoyed helping his dad on the farm, showing cows at 4H, tractors, Chevelles, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. He played football in highschool, was Homecoming King of Waterloo High School and his favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys... actually, it was their Cheerleaders! Ken was a proud father to Michael, Katie, Mark, and Olivia. He married Paula Harris on February 14, 2016, and gained two more - Taren and Lee. He was a hardworking and very resourceful man. He involved his children when working on his farm when they were young. Ken’s first job was working for a dry cleanre in Omaha and then he went to Lanoha nursery. He met many people there that admired his hard work ethic and continued their friendship to this day. Ken retired from the City of Valley as Public Works Superintendant in December 2021 after almost 30 years. He wore many hats in the city and became the “go-to” guy for many events and city issues. When he wasn’t working, Ken was very sociable, playful, and unpredictable. He had the great honor of being known as “Crazy Uncle Ken”. He was a friend to all and a local legend, who would tell everyone, “Do as I say, not as I do.” He enjoyed planting trees for Arbor Days and spending time with friends and family at gatherings on the farm. He loved hayrack rides, bon fires, target shooting, collecting antique tractors, planting his fields and driving his 1970 Chevelle. Some of his favorite places to eat were Elbees, Farmer Browns and Bucks. His favorite drink was Coors Light – and his favorite foods were, medium rare beef, carrot cake and Lays potato chips. Paula and Kenny spent time traveling to many places.... Mexico vacations, Florida beaches, San Diego and Nashville were some of his favorite places. Time spent traveling with Paula was very special to him. Ken passed away on December 8, 2023, at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Ellen (Villwok) Grimm. He is survived by his wife, Paula Harris; children: Michael, Catherine (Chris) Fuller, Mark, and Olivia; stepchildren: Taren Clark, and Lee Harris; grandchildren: Anna, Ava, Eliza, Mae, Curran; brother, Tom (Liz) Grimm; sister, Connie (Pat) Wilhem; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs: Koda, Diesel, and Jack. VISITATION: Wednesday, December 13, 2023, 4:30-7 PM; VIGIL SERVICE at 7 PM at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn, NE. MEMORIAL SERVICE: Thursday, December 14, 2023, 10:30 AM at St. John’s Catholic Church in Valley, NE. BURIAL: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Elkhorn, NE. Following the graveside, the family would like to invite you to celebrate Ken’s life at DJ’s Dugout off 192nd and Maple Street from 1:30 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation or the 4-H Douglas/Sarpy County Foundation.
