Kimberly Sue Liermann

Kim was born on July 24, 1965. Her parents are Bob and Vicky Woods. Kim had a special bond with her grandmother Welch. They spent a lot of time together through her youth and they stayed close throughout Kim’s life. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in Treynor, Iowa. She graduated in 1983 from Treynor High School and then attended Northwest Missouri State. Kim was married to Ron Liermann on March 26, 1988 and they were blessed with three beautiful boys. Kirk was born in 1989, Kody in 1992 and Kole in 1994. Kim found much joy raising her boys and was very proud of the young men they have grown to be. Kim’s life with Duane Ptacek began in 1997. They made their home a place where all were welcome and enjoyed spending time with friends. Kim loved being around people and entertaining, always making sure everyone was having a good time. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and relaxing on her deck. Her love of the outdoors included hunting, fishing, camping, raising her pot-bellied pigs, Elvis and Max (who sometimes got to sleep in the house) and hanging out at the river with friends. Kim was an active member of the community, assisting with Post Prom and Booster Club. She always brought energy and enthusiasm to whatever had her attention. Kim was preceded in death by her grandfather EJ Woods, grandfather James Welch and Uncle Jack Welch. She is survived by her three sons: Kirk, Kody, and Kole, her life partner Duane Ptacek, mother Vicky Woods, of Treynor, IA, father Bob (Sue) Woods of Council Bluffs, IA, grandmothers: Thelma Welch of Oskaloosa, IA and Mary C. Woods of Colonia, NJ, brothers: Jason Woods of Ankeny, IA and Cory Woods of Minneapolis, MN, stepbrother Chad Fennell of Council Bluffs, IA, and stepsister Denise Larson of Council Bluffs, IA. Kim will always be remembered for her energetic spirit and generous nature. Kimberly S. Liermann, age 47, of Yutan, NE, died September 1, 2012 after a short, hard-fought battle with cancer. Kim is preceded in death by her grandfathers: Ernest Woods and James Welch, and uncle Jack Welch. She is survived by sons: Kirk, Kody and Kole Liermann, and life partner Duane Ptacek, all of Yutan, mother Vicky Woods of Treynor, IA, father Bob (Sue) Woods, of Council Bluffs, IA, grandmothers: Thelma Welch of Oskaloosa, IA and Mary C. Woods of Colonia, NJ, brothers: Jason Woods of Ankeny, IA and Cory Woods of Minneapolis, MN, stepbrother Chad Fennell and stepsister Denise Larson both of Council Bluffs, IA. Funeral Service Wednesday (9/5/12) at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Yutan. Interment Hollst Lawn Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 2-8 PM with family receiving friends from 6-8 at the funeral home. Memorials to the family.
