Leland Clarence Timm

Leland Clarence Timm was born with his twin brother Thomas on August 24, 1952 in Omaha, Nebraska to Richard and Frances (Lewis) Timm. He attended grade school in Waterloo and graduated from Yutan High School in 1970. As a young boy, Lee was active in all sports, enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and uncle and worked on his grandpa’s farm. Lee enlisted in the United States Navy and during his four years served on the USS Piedmont, making stops in the Phillipines, Taiwan and Vietnam. Lee married Andra Grinvalds on May 23, 1981 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Yutan and they were blessed with a daughter, Jamie. Lee and Andra have made their home in Yutan and Valley. Lee has worked for local farmers, Valmont and at 3-M as a forklift operator for over 30 years. He continued his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing, mushroom hunting at his secret spot, was an avid sports fan especially cheering on his beloved Yankees and Huskers. Lee was funny and stubborn with a unique sense of humor and knack for telling inappropriate jokes. He loved his pets and he was a regular customer at Lowe’s and Menards, purchasing materials for fixing and tinkering with anything he could find. Lee coached Jamie’s softball team for several years. Lee loved a hot bowl of chili, a cold beer and a hamburger from the local diner. Lee passed away at his home in Valley, Nebraska on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 11 days. He was preceded in death by his father Richard, brother Tom and sister Christi; Lee is survived by his wife Andra; daughter Jamie Timm of Valley; Stepsons Christopher and Shane Grinvalds; grandson Nicholas Bennett; mother Frances (Charles) Zaugg of Yutan.
