Lucile Mae TenEyck

Lucile Mae Detwiler TenEyck was born on October 11, 1922, the youngest of three children, in Dunlap, Iowa to Charles and Emma (Summerfield) Detwiler. She grew up on the family farm near Dunlap. Lucile married Lyle TenEyck on June 15, 1940 in Logan, Iowa and they were blessed with four children: Jerry, Merlyn, Ralph and Sherrie. Lucile and Lyle raised their family in Dunlap and Valley, Nebraska before settling permanently in Valley in the 60’s. Lucile was a stay at home mom and cleaned the doctor’s office in Valley until going to work in the Valley Schools cafeteria, where she worked for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking but her passion was reading. Lucile loved to socialize, take trips to Branson, an evening downtown visiting with friends and her regular Saturday trips to Fremont to get her hair fixed. She cherished her dogs Susie and Asia. Lucile was a strong, well liked and independent woman who loved to cook, host holidays at her home and join in on large family gatherings. She enjoyed country western music, a cold beer and dinner at Miller’s Café. After leaving her home, Lucile lived at Marquis Place in Elkhorn and Orchard Garden in Valley until 2 years ago when her health force to move to Arbor Manor in Fremont. Lucile passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on March 23, 2014 at Arbor Manor in Fremont at the age of 91 years, 5 months and 12 days. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Emma, sisters Goldie and Florence, husband Lyle and sons Jerry, Merlyn and Ralph. Lucile is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sherrie and Chuck Hascall of Elkhorn; Grandchildren Nicole Creger and Jason and Stacie Muhle all of Elkhorn. Great grandchildren Reagan Melia and Makayla and Mason Muhle.
